We aren't going to be able to just take the SIM out of our old phones and switch over? How is that going to work?
You're going to need to call in or go to a store to activate the
micro sim you get with the phone.
if they figure out I'm still on the G1 unlimited data plan are they going to make me upgrade? haha
You can try using a micro sim cutter and making your
own micro sim card. You can get one off the internet for
I had no idea on that, thanks for the info Gramps!
Even if you cut the sim into a micro sim Tmobile will still be able
to see that your using your old G1 plan with the HTC One. Once you
put your sim card in a different phone it will register with Tmobile.
I was at a Tmobile store and the clerk went into my phone history and
was telling me the phones I have used and some of them was just to test to see
if the phone was a working phone and the sim was in less than an hour.
They may not care then or are ok with being grandfathered in since I've been using the same SIM card in my Vibrant for the last couple years. Can't say I've ever noticed being throttled but I don't use an excessive amout of data either. Vibrant shows up when I login to my t-mobile account but my bill shows G1 unlimited data. Just want to keep being lucky I guess since that's a good and afforadable plan for me.
changing sim cards has no effect on your data plan or anything else. But you may not be able to buy the phone with the full discount if you are not using one of the requrired data plans.
Anyone know if One S's micro SIM card can be used on other standard SIM phones with some adapter?
I occasionally have to switch phones around when I don't want to break the good one on trips.
I'm pretty sure you cant use the mirco sim in older phones. They are chaging over to the micro's now.
When I got to reading about the cutters Gramps mentioned they all came with adapters to allow the cut down SIM cards to be reused as regular SIMS if needed. apparently the electronics are the same, just not as much extra plastic around the outside. It should work if you just get the little adapter thing.
i just upgraded, will it come wit micro sim card
yes, as an update (I think I mentioned this in another thread), the phone comes with a new micro SIM card you just pop in. Called TMO, in a couple minutes had they my new SIM activated and the old one deactivates automatically. The rep didn't mention or have any questions about the older data plan I am on nor did it affect my upgrade or trade in. It was easy as it could be.
Enjoy the new phone, you will like it!
