cool. is it a big improvement over gingerbread do you think?
international version only
This is for UK, and not the U.S.:
Yeah I figured that or the aforementioned.
someone always has to be negative. this is the best we have heard since the rollout began in march.
It is a little progress, or a step in the right direction. But what's negative about it? The fact that you posted it as if it were a US date or the fact that it's coming to the UK?
Ugh! Still no announcement from TMO for the US! That's exactly what I came here today. I've grown very tired of waiting. I had heard about issues with Samsung being slow to release updates, but it certainly seems like TMO is the slow one in this case. Samsung released the SGS2 ICS update quite a long time ago and TMO still hasn't prepared their version of it. Quite furstrating! Give us ICS already! This is my first phone on TMO and this upgrade experience isn't helping me stay happy about it when so many other inferior phones have ICS already on other carriers!
It really does seem like HTC is doing a far superior job on software updates compared to Samsung as well.
Oh really. Could you be more specific and tell us which phones have been updated in the United States outside of the Galaxy Nexus?
I guess that you are right. As far as I've seen only the HTC Vivid has been updated to ICS in the US as far as phones go. There have been a number of tables updated to ICS (Asus, Acer, Archos). I had heard from people that their phones had ICS, but it must have been a custom ROM and not an official update.
It still stands that Samsung released the software quite some time ago and TMO is the one holding things up atm.
I think this is wise as you may have heard about the issues our close UK/International sibling has done with the premature update.
This may and well be something that Samsung has asked the carries to hold off on just to co-inside with the release of the HTC phones with 4.0 - no evidence just speculation.
Here's some more "relevant" info about ICS for the unlocked US version just coming out today:
