if your contacts are in gmail, you don't need to transfer anything. when you sign in with your gmail account on the One S all your contacts and apps will sync (plus calendar & music - if used google music). you can backup your sms with the app SMS Backup to export them in gmail - but I don't think you can import it back on the phone. maybe there is an app for call history too, but that info is probably lost.
People above have answered lot of you questions. But it also has to do with what device you have right now. If you have an Android phone now, you can check this out for some tips: Prepare for a master reset and back up data on Android
Also, you can sync contacts on your current phone to MobileLife / T-Mobile Contacts Backup / T-Mobile / Mobile Backup (they call it a lot of different things on different phones), and then sync your new One S to MobileLife and it will transfer them all via T-Mobile servers. You can also edit your MobileLife contacts on T-Mobile.com if you find it easier than doing it on the phone screen. This works on most T-Mo devices sold in the last several years (Android or not), as long as it has one of those features listed above in bold.
If your phone now is an Android:, you can also sync to Gmail or a third-party app to transfer contacts. You can transfer text messages through third-party apps on Play Store. Some are mentioned by name in the "back up" doc I linked above.
I don't know a way to transfer call logs between phones. However, that's something T-Mo suggests that you clear regularly just to keep the phone running optimally.
That sounds great, tmo_mikem, but can you detail the steps? I had a 3G android phone. All my contacts from that phone are visible on the "My T Mobile" web site when I log on to it. Now I have turned that phone off and turned on my HTC One S. I've selected "sync once a day". Does that mean the contacts from the T-mo website will automatically be transferred to the new phone?
I don't quit understand why all the contacts from the old phone failed to come across when I bought the new one.
That will depend partly on other sync settings.
If you can access your contacts on my.t-mobile.com from a web browser, that means your contacts are saved in MobileLife. So, on your phone, let's check that sync setting:
- Make sure your phone can access the internet (just load a web page or something).
- From the Home screen, pull down the Notification bar.
- Touch Settings.
- Touch Accounts & sync.
- Touch MobileLife contacts.
- If the Sync contacts check box is grayed out, then touch it to select it.
- In the upper right corner of the screen, there is an icon for Remove and one for Sync now. Touch the Sync now icon.
- Give your phone a few minutes for the contacts to transfer in the background.
If you're having any trouble after that:
- From the Home screen, touch the Phone icon.
- Touch the Contacts button.
- In the upper-left corner, touch the word (probably says Phonebook).
- A list drops down that says the number of contacts you have in different sync accounts. Look for the one with the name MobileLife Contacts.
- Verify MobileLife Contacts is checked, and that it has a number beside it in parenthesis. If it says (0), then there seems to be no contacts saved on t-mo.com.

Thanks again, tmo_mikem! It worked! Just like you said. I have used T Mobile phones for some years now and never realized I had contacts on the web site. Great stuff to be able to transfer them so easily. I tried bluetooth but my PC wanted to connect the phone to the sound system. This is much easier.
By the way, if one uses USB browsing, is it possible to see the contacts on the phone when it is connected to the PC via USB cable? Not important, just curious to know.

Glad to help. Yeah, our phones have had this ability for a while, but they kept changing the name of the feature, so it was hard for people to keep track of.
When you have your phone connected via USB to a computer, you can set it to Disk drive and view and transfer files. I think that's what you mean. You will not be able to transfer contacts that way, just files like music, ringtones, alarms, office documents, PDFs, pictures, etc.
If you want to enter contacts from a computer, the easiest ways are to enter them in MobileLife or the Gmail account you set up. Either one can sync the contacts to the phone. You can also sync contacts from an account on Exchange server, if you need to do that for work.
How do I move my contacts from my blackberry to the HTC One S? I went to my local store and they said they don't have the software to do that. They said they couldn't even move contacts from the Iphone to the HTC One S. Not sure how you offer rebates to people if you can't do that in store for people.

I'm sorry you're having problems at your store. I'd like to help with the part I can though, which is giving you some steps to transfer contacts. For BlackBerry, I've got to admit I am not very familiar with BlackBerry, but I can provide you help that some of our reps recommend.
- The first 3 of these seem to be about using Google Sync for BlackBerry, which is the easiest.
- The last 1 is using Outlook, which may be the most complciated.
- If all else fails, Live Chat is a nice help without sitting on hold on a phone line.
