going to verizon will make no diffrance if you buy another phone that has issues the network provider has nothing to do with updates except maybe to add bloutware

        • 16. Re: T-Mobile G2x ICS update

LG & TMO have crapped on those of us where suckered into buying this POS since the day it came out.

Problems were discovered quickly, but rather than letting us return them within the remorse period, they told us to just wait...that a fix would be out "soon". That "soon" took three months. It fixed most problems, but not all. And the reason it didn't fix everything is because LG appears to have done no testing prior to releasing the phone. Since it's LG, that's not surprising. All of the press reports were glowing, but the phone is really junk.

I finally gave up, rooted, and am running CM7. It's far better than anything LG would put out. It doesn't fix everything 100% either, but I'm not sure that any software can. It's a poorly designed phone.

And since the beginning, we've been sucking hind teat with LG and TMO.

LG can do it faster, because they have access to the Nvidia drivers. That is the main reason CM9 is taking so long. What does T-Mobile have to do with this? They put crappy bloatware that makes my wifi disconnect and aren't pushing hard enough on LG for fixes. I bet you are on contract and didn't pay much for the phone, not my case, I paid for this phone in full. Don't give me this whole root your phone ****, because they are all imperfect, and have issues, in one way, or another. I want a build from the manufacturer and company that sold me this phone. It should work the way its Google counterpart should in every way. Its a dual core that isn't utilized to its fullest, unless its running ICS.

            • 18. Re: T-Mobile G2x ICS update

The amount of bloatware on this phone was minimal, especially compared to just about any other phone. It was not vanilla Android as advertised, but about as close as you'll get from any manufacturer/carrier.

I have faith that whatever firmware update comes from LG will suck just as did their implementation of Froyo and Gingerbread. They're an incompetent company and always have been.

The only way to get it to work halfway right is to root it. I held out for a long time, but finally gave up so that I could have a useable phone.

It's Nvidia that mostly caused the problems because they didn't release the source code to anyone until much, much later.  By then, the phone was "old."  I don't think LG is at fault since some of the problems were Android related.  T-Mo has really no control over what LG and/or Nvidia does.  Personally, I think LG, Nvidia and Google should hire the CM team to do future software development.

Have a friend with an HTC Thunderbolt. He got it 3 Months before I got the G2x. I got the G2x May 2011. I got the Gingerbread update a month and a half before his was updated. Can't say HTC does better on this. T-Mobile will not push for an ICS update since THEY EOL'd (End Of Life) this phone. Major updates are up to the Provider to buy and pay for each phone updated. Just not going to happen.

Like said many times before, eol has nothing to do with it.

They ended life on both the sensation and the amaze and both got the update already.

Man, this HTC Sensation running ICS is SWEEEET.  LG Envy says it all.  ;)
