How do I export contacts from my Samsung Gravity T459 to a Nexus S? I turned Bluetooth on on both phones and they found each other, but there doesn't seem to be a way to transfer the contacts over. I reeeeeally don't want to enter all 100+ manually. Thanks.
Actually I have over 200 contacts! It would take hours to import those all manually. I really hope there is a solution.
With the gravity the contacts should be save on your sim. They should also be stored in your mytmobile account so you should go to sync and see if your tmobile contacts are there and try syncing them.
Well TMobile cut off my service to that phone so I don't have a MyTMobile account anymore. Also I can't use the SIM card on the new phone. Other ideas?
They sell sim card readers on eBay so you could try buying one and importing the contacts to your pc then import them to your phone. That's if you still have the sim. If you have a USB data cable for the gravity you can try that also.
Thanks. I do still have the old SIM. When I went to try and get the photos out of my old phone, the guy at the TMobile store said the USB cable wouldn't work without software and would be too time intensive and expensive. He ended up transferring them to some little black box they had at the store and then putting them all onto a thumb drive. I will see if I can get a SIM card reader. How then would I get the contacts from the PC to the phone?
Most sim card reader come with software that will import your contact.
Here's a desciption of one sim card reader I looke at.
SIM card reader comes with a copy of SIM Manager, a program for managing phonebook entries and importing contacts from Outlook or other PIM applications (via CSV files). The SIM card manager has many more features, among them:
The question is how will I get the contacts from the laptop to my new phone? Does all SIM card reader software have this ability?
You should be able to save the contacts to you google account with the software and then
sync them to your Nexus.
OK so I got the card to read my contacts, exported the list to Outlook Express but google only reads the names, not the numbers. So all I have in my phone now are the names! Ideas?
What sim card reader did you buy and what type of software came with it.
Thanks for your reply. I don't even know -- it seems pretty generic -- I can't even find a brand name. It's just called the "COTHSIMRDX01." It did not come with software, just a piece of paper with a driver. It's called the "Sim Editor V5.11 GSM 6 in 1." Any ideas?
The only thing I can think of is to either buy another sim card reader with
better software or go to a Tmobile store and see if they can get the contacts off
the card for you.
I found this on Howards Forum and it may help you. Doesn't address the issues
of the missing phone numbers but their is problems with the card reader.
