Ok here goes...I just got an HTC Radar. I'm new t t-mobile as well. I have been brousing the discussions for adding ringtones to my phone. I have done every suggestion on how to do so. Nothing has worked. Can someone please help! I'm tired of the default ringtones.
Hi purplerose, happy to help you with this. In terms of the suggestions you have seen, what specifically have you tried so far?
Thanks Joel for your help. I have tried syncing my ringtone on Zune to my phone. It did not work. I have edited my song selection, and went to the Generes list and typed in ringtone and then ok. That didnt work either. I have updated my software on the phone through Zune. Is there something else that I can do? I just want a simple song for my ringtone.
Can you confirm you followed all the steps noted in this particular resource and it still did not work for you? http://www.windowsobserver.com/2011/09/28/custom-ringtones-on-windows-phone-7-5-mango/
Yes I did that but I didnt use another app. I used Zune to do it. No it didn't work.
Okay, I will need more specifics on where exactly the process broke down for you.
Just to confirm, you have a wma/mp3 file that is less than 40 seconds in length and less than 1 MB in file size, which does not have DRM encoding.
Then you saved that file on your computer within the correct music directory (folder structure) where all the rest of your music is stored.
Then when you went into Zune and found that song, right clicked on it and selected 'Edit' and then typed 'Ringtone' in the Genre field. Once you did that, you attempted to synchronize the song to your phone, and....what happened next?
Absolutely nothing happened. I ended up using another free app to get the job done.
Dude, just use Myxer.. You can even make your own tones from music you already own. Free app, super easy.
I'm just starting to learn (after hours) that nothing about this smart phone is smart. Everything is tedious and very difficult to work with. I have spent hours trying to debug its bluetooth issues and trying to transfer a ring tone into the phone. What a huge pain and as yet no success. With my previous "dumb" phones, I had none of these issues. From reading this, it seems I will need to download some third party (4th 5th or 6th maybe) app just to get a ring tone. The phone, Tmobile, and now zune are pure bovine excrement.
The idea that it takes an error prone "process" is nuts.**** contract.
