This is a weird problem and I think I may have caused it to happen by moving my memory card from my Samsung Vibrant to the SGS2. But I have a double thumbnail set for every folder in my image gallery. This problem existed in the Vibrant and I did something (though I forget what) to clear the problem, but now it exists in my new phone as well.
Any recommendations on how to handle this? Anyone else with this problem?
are there any thumb directories? (or .thumb)
There were some but and they have been removed. That did not work, however. Further, I set about looking for similar files and removed them as well to no positive effect. Finally, I cleared all the data for the Gallery app. Also did not work. The data must be stored elsewhere... but where?
Clear the CachedImages folder. I think this is were the problem lies.
There was only two files in there anyway... small ones... adleft and adright or something like that. Cleared them both.
I'm afraid I'm going to just have to remove all images, reboot, verify the doubled folders are not doubled and and entirely gone then re-add... maybe a small group of folders first to see if they double again and take it from there.
It's a weird problem to be sure. I recently updated one of the doubled folders and found that the second folder did not change.
You could also replace your gallery app with QuickPic. It lets you tell it not to look in certain folders (great for preventing album art from showing in the gallery).
I'll look into the QuickPic app. Sounds like a nice app which people have been begging for under the Gallery.
That said, I solved the problem by removing all images, rebooting and adding the images back folder by folder. They have not duplicated themselves yet.
