I Upgraded From The Motorola Cliq2 To The Amaze Back In Dec. I'm Fairly New To The Video Chats. I'm Just Curious To Know Which One Of The Above Mentioned Video Features Is The Best One To Use? I Guess I'm Asking For Everyone's Opinion. Pros & Cons. Thanks
Qik had a better quality image, but dropped frames and locked up more. Skype had a lower quality picture, but hung tight through 1/2 an hour of chatting. I was chatting with someone on an iPhone initially (Skype/Qik tout the Qik client as better for cross platform, but actually Skype <-> Skype was more reliable), then my chat partner switched to Macbook (which seemed to have better Skype capabilities).
Would The Type Of Device To Device Play A Part In The Overall Quality And Functionality Of The Video Chat? EX: Amaze To Amaze Both Using Skype. Also, Does The Mexapixel Setting Make A Difference?
Yes. But it's probably dependent upon the software app for that device. Skype is going to downsample our 1.5MP front camera to what it wants based on app, bandwidth, whatever.
My family has actually had the best performance on our mytouch4g's using Yahoo Messenger, with video plugin. A bit of a pain to initially setup accounts, but works well for us. The phones came with Qik, which rarely will connect at all. Skype works pretty good, but not as good as messenger. Unfortunately, its the only good part of the Yahoo apps in my opinion.
@miken. I've Used The Yahoo Messenger Video Chat & Was Pleased. I Haven't Tried Qik Yet. Skype Works Well. I Tried The Google Talk Video Chat. That Was The Worst Of'em All. I Guess At The End Of The Day, It All Comes Down To The Phone The Other Person Has, Connectivity, & The Quality Of Their Camera.
Has anyone tried Tango ????????
I've recently tried Google Talk (with other person using the plugin in Firefox on a Macbook Pro) right after Skype (with same hardware on the other end), and it is much better than the current Skype app. Over my Wi-Fi it had some delays and halting, but over 4G, Talk Video is smooth and real-time. Another bonus? You don't have to login or run Talk like you do with Skype -- the Google Talk is a service running in the background anyway.
I won't use Skype again.
I use Google Talk On a daily basis. However, I haven't used the video chat since installing ICS. Maybe I'll try it later on. Is there a significant difference in sound and quality of video compared to pre ICS?
I haven't downloaded Skype at all since I've had ICS. Even after I did the reset, I didn't reinstall it. Probably won't.
Any new developments on Qik since ICS? I haven't used that since March.
