Unable to mount microSD card in Windows 7...

This issue has been bothering me for a long time. After I got my replacement phone (original could only charge via USB, no data) I've found out much to my annoyance that even though now I can transfer files to the phone, it only mounts the phone memory and not the external SD. And before someone chimes in with the canned troubleshooting response (http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-2580)...yes I did all that (different cards, cables and all drivers current) and still I cant mount the card in Windows. The card shows up in Windows Explorer as H:, but is greyed out. Double clicking on it get me the "Please insert disk..." message. Other steps taken: power cycling, hard reset, turned on mass storage only, and enabled USB debugging mode. BTW the card is usable when it's in the device, I can access it via Astro.

It's not very convienient if, whenever I need to put data on my phone, I have to take the whole thing apart just to take out my SD and stick it in a laptop.
