yes we have all seen that but there are other later posts that indicate that T-Mobile is working on the update and it will be released by end of Feb '12.
Why I started this thread is for a T-MOBILE admin or tech person to respond with an OFFICIAL AND CLEAR update so we all know what to do !
you would think IT SHOULD NOT BE THAT HARD
nor is it unreasonable, after all this is the T-MOBILE OFFICIAL SUPPORT forum
and someone form them should be at least havig a look at it !
SO T-MOBILE TECHS ARE WE, OR ARE WE NOT GETTING BELLE ?
I am also posting here the same post from Icbuono's Belle Flash thread in case anyone is interested:
I waited for Belle to "stabilize" and flashed my astound with Belle last week.
For all of those who are still wondering, I must say that after my first week using Belle, I FULLY understand T-Mobs decision NOT to pursue the upgrade.
There is no doubt that Anna is more stable, and although Belle may get further software upgrades were Anna will not, I doubt Nokia at this stage will put to much r&d in it.
(and I flashed the Belle 040 version, so I wonder what the 030 and before were like......)
Here are just some of the obvious things that Belle lacks/compares unfavorably vs Anna:
Belle is far more sluggish than Anna
Belle's drag down menu CANNOT alter the Power Saving Mode like tapping the top of the main Anna screen
Belle's drag down menu only has Silent (on/off) profile and you cannot chose like Anna
Belle does have WIFI Calling and thus weaker cell signal reception
Belle's browser is much slower, does not support WML (so to access Hotmail and MS Live you have to "trick the system" - no go figure that from a company that supposedly is in "complete collaboration" with Microsoft and mobile OS !) and Opera Mini seem more unstable on it.
NO FLASH PLAYER integrated still in the Browser and NO FLASH PLAYER that can be installed.
Still no control on the "Real Player" - integrated music player. So everytime you interrupt, you have to relaunch and you cannot modify ANY settings !
( Again, go figure out how Nokia does not have MS Media Player nor streamm any mms: streams on theri phones !!! - 18 after their "complete collaboration" with them......)
The Access point management does not work. Often you will connect to WIFI, but it will remain "unknown" and will not be used by Belle. More, it will not add it to your Access points, so next time you access it, you still have to enter the WEP codes !
Actually the whole Access Points is a mess compared to Anna.
There is still no direct X (close app) button w/easy access on any applications
The only good thing maybe that once you flash the system is not burdened with the T-Mob uselss propriaterry
And Belle does have a nicer look and better Widgets/Shortcuts.
(and of course is still better than Android)
So, the only reason to flash it, if you are a US user, in my opinion, is in hope of the future improvements
Also like to say thanks to Icbuono who thorough step by step flash directions are perfect.
I would only add that Phoenix doe NOT support x64 based pcs, so you have to look for a cracked.rar version that does. I used the one from Schwantz-i.org
Hope that helps
I HATED this phone on Anna. The T-mo version was buggy and awful on Anna. I flashed it to belle as soon as it was available and reflashed to the latest update yesterday. I love using this on Belle. It is stable in a way that anna never was on my astound. Everything works, and I have no lag, for the most part. I have never had a problem as you describe with wifi, It recognizes the networks I use and logs on without problem. My hotmail is a widget and is essentially live, as is my hotmail calendar and both work right and well. The only thing I miss since flashing it to belle months ago was losing visual voice mail and wifi calling. To each his own I guess, but I have not been happier since I put belle and the latest fp1 on it. I like this so much I am toying with getting a Pureview 808 with belle because I like the OS and want the bigger screen and better camera
I think you may not have had the latest Anna on your astound. I have 2, one one Anna, and now one on the latest Belle. But as you said, each his own.
The Belle Access point issue arises mostly when the WIFI is NOT named but still shows the generic router alphanumeric id. when you chose one, and enter the security (WEP), it does not automatically add the network to the Internet Access points. Sometimes it adds it to a the folder: Uncategorized, and sometimes not.
I think as you use Belle in more complicated ways, the more issues crop up. Try the Nokia Mail app with an account that has many subfolders ! After the first handful, the rest remain unnmamed as you scroll down for at least 4-5 secs.
And there is no way hotmail works on browser v8. It does not support WML format, so it CANNOT access live.com. The only way to do it is via, outlook.com and then it take some more tricking.
Dont get me wrong Belle is a good os. But its easy to see why T-Mob did not pursue the upgrade. They have too few symbian phones and Belle has very little additional functionality - actually NONE that I could find. All the improvements where UI. And it has many more unworked glitches, its definitely slower and the more complex way you use your Astound the more bugs come out.
Anyway, that is my experience. I will track the improvement on both and report back in a few mos.
