HTC identified that third-party applications cause these problems on the Sensation. If any of the following apps are in your application list, please remove them for a few days to test if the phone restarts.
- AdMob (Ad. App. for android developers)
- Android Headlines
- Bank of America
- Basic Color Theme
- Qi Gong Meditation Relaxation
- The Weather Channel
- Talking Tom Cat Free
If you do not have any of the apps on this list, please try uninstalling any additional third party apps one-at-a-time on your Sensation for a few days to test if the problem improves. If the issue still occurs, check out Device randomly turns off: Android, and be sure to use the "Tell HTC" feature to report every time the phone restarts. This report contains a log file that is required to determine what the problem is.
I've noticed some stability issues since I downloaded the most recent update. I was late doing the update, so my problems have been occurring for around three weeks. I noticed that Sense would reload after I used any and every app. I attepted to reboot the phone, but the phone wouldn't turn back on for several minutes. I finally got the phone back on, but it reboot on its own again shortly thereafter. This has also happened overnight.
The only app that I have on my Sensation from the above list is Pandora. I'll try to remove that app to see if there is any improvement. I've been having problems using Vlingo lately, which is not good because this is the app that I use for handsfree Bluetooth use.
Hello all (again)
I have downloaded none of those APPS mentioned above, or any APPs whatsoever, to this phone other than what it came preinstalled with. I upgraded the operating system per their instructions from T mobile (update to the firmware)
The forceclose happens occasionally if I actually catch it happening. The phone is never far from my hand or ear so I know if it shuts down unless I am dead asleep and miss the reboot.
So if I have not downloaded any APPs, and the only modification to the original phone was the firmware upgrade which was recommeded, and that this phone occasionally force closes, what would be the next logical answer to this issue if no APPs are downloaded or added to the phone.
- Try some basic trouble shooting tips. Most are in the documentation area. Others you can find via searching in this forum for your issue and seeing what others have tried. Try a battery pull soft reset. By pulling the battery and putting it back in, to reset that way. Try clearing the system cache. Try a new SIM Card. Try a new MicroSD card. Try master reset via the battery pull master reset method.
I have the same problem with my HTC Sensation, constantly rebooting for no reason. I've called customer service and their solution is to just send me another phone. I also have a problem where the screen will not respond after a call, therefor not allowing me to hang up. Then the phone calls the person back, very annoying. I'm on my 4th sensation now and have spent hours on the phone with T-mobiles Android group. Each phone has had these problems. Customer service ensures me many people are using the phone without problems. I just want to be that person. Has anyone on this forum experienced the same problems and know how to fix this phone? I do not have any apps install, I have formated the sd card as well all per suggestion of the T-mobile android group.
Try clearing the system cache.
If it does not help, try a new MicroSD card.
If it does not help, try a new SIM Card.
If those don't help, try a master reset via the battery pull master reset method.
Try those in that order.
It might be kinda late but, I dont have the auto reboot issue but tonight I was attempting to pair my Bluetooth headset that I dont usually use. I mean i don't use a Bluetooth headset at all really. Anyway what I find interesting is even after a fresh reboot and have not even started Pandora, when I went to pair the device I get a Pandora force close error. I tried force closings the app via app management and still i get the error. I've uninstalled Pandora and it pairs fine. So I'm only sharing incase it's related to people who have Bluetooth on all the time. I've got an htc sensation 4g with all the current updates and all the apps are Upto date too.
This is a long shot and really just a mention. you don't think its over heating do you? I ended up taking mine out of the case, cause I was concerned how hot it was getting.
I mean without even installing any apps after a fresh factory reset, to have those issues seems not normal. I had some issues with google+ and missing ringtones after reboot, but that's an installed app, and after my factory reset and not reinstalled mines been pretty good. I really hope you can get this figured out.
