Set up your wireless router manually (T-Mobile wireless router by Linksys)

NOTE: The installation CD is recommended for setting up your new wireless router because it can detect your current configuration and guide you through the best installation.

To set up your wireless router manually, perform the following steps:

1. Verify that your computer is connected to the Internet and can access a Web page other than your home page.

2. Verify that the cable connecting your computer to the modem is an Ethernet cable. A Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable will not work.

3. Determine which setup you have and which setup you want to have:

If you do not have a wireless router, install your new wireless router. ›
If you already have a wireless router, replace the wireless router with your new wireless router. ›
If you already have a wireless router, add your new wireless router. ›
If you are not sure if you already have a wireless router, install your new wireless router. ›

If you do not have a wireless router, install your new wireless router.

The modem from your Internet Service Provider (ISP) may have a built-in wireless router. These modems are often referred to as combo units. One way to tell if you have a combo unit is to see if your modem has an antenna; however, even if your modem does not have an antenna, it may still be a combo unit.
