Highlights

  • Once installed and properly configured on your PC, you can launch the Intellisync for Hiptop application to synchronize with your Hiptop device.
  • The Intellisync application will compare address book, calendar, and to do records between the source (Outlook) and the destination (Hiptop).
  • You can accept or decline changes prior to synchronization, and choose whether the source or destination wins for each conflict.
  • Accepted changes are synchronized over the Internet between the source account and your account on the Hiptop Service Delivery Engine (SDE). You can also use a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) secured connection to synchronize.
  • Changes made by the synchronization application to the account on the SDE are synchronized to the Hiptop device using the normal immediate over-the-air synchronization process.
  • If you make changes to your destination account using either the Hiptop or the Desktop Interface, those changes are synchronized with the source account (Outlook) the next time you synchronize.
  • One-step synchronization – Changes made on the Hiptop device can be synchronized to Outlook Personal Information Manager (PIM) and vice versa with a single click.
  • Full conflict resolution and filtering – When you have made changes to the same record on your Hiptop and your PC, Intellisync detects and resolves the conflict automatically, or makes changes based on the customized controls.

This installation can only be done via the Web.

You may activate Intellisync on one or more PCs. Your user name and password for accessing the Desktop Interface control this process.

Upgrades or software bug fixes may be available from time to time. You will need to log in to your Desktop Interface to acquire any subsequent Intellisync download versions.

NOTE: Upgrading to a new version of Intellisync will require two passes through the Install client – once to remove the application and once to reinstall the new version. To uninstall previous versions, you may also use the Windows Add/Remove Programs functionality.

Setting up Intellisync

  • Install the synchronization client downloaded to your local PC.
  • First-time users will need to click SET UP before any synchronizing, importing, or exporting can be done. If you select SYNC without going through any set up, the message You must select Web connection information prior to selecting this function appears.
  • You can click SET UP to select various options each time you import, export, or synchronize.

To set up Intellisync, perform the following steps:

1. Enter the same user name and password you use to access the Desktop Interface.

2. To determine the source and rules for each synchronization application, click Configure Applications. You can select an action for any or all applications by first selecting the appropriate check box, and then clicking Choose.

Note:Most customers will not need to set Proxy Server Settings. Rare exceptions would be for browsers that incorporate firewalls and proxy servers to allow Web traffic to pass.

4. Click to select the desired option to import, export, or synchronize all or one of three applications:

  • Import is a one-way transfer of data from Outlook to the Hiptop. Information on the Hiptop is not transferred to Outlook.
  • Export is also a one-way transfer of data, but from the Hiptop to Outlook.

NOTE: In these two cases, the information on the Hiptop and the information in Outlook will not necessarily be synchronized.

  • Synchronize keeps the data synchronized between Outlook and your Hiptop.

5. From the Choose Translator dialog box, under Available Translators, click to select where Intellisync will look for data, and then click OK.
