    Beginning November 17, the LG G Flex will have a software update to Android KitKat 4.4.2/SWV20s that turn on VoLTE services via OTA over Wi-Fi in available VoLTE markets only. For devices not in VoLTE markets, the update will also be available via OTA via Wi-Fi or the LG Mobile Support Tool. VoLTE capabilities are limited to markets that have had VoLTE  turned on.This update provides features and improvements:

    Check the software version

    To check the current software version, follow these steps:

     

    1. From the Home screen, tap the Menumenu key medium.pngkey.
    2. Tap System settings.
    3. Select the General tab.
    4. Scroll to 'SYSTEM,' then tap About phone.
    5. Tap Software information.
    6. Read the version on the phone, and check it below:

    Your software is up to date. There are no updates available.

    Requirements to update

    To be able to update to the current software version, the below requirements must be met:

    • 50% or higher battery life
    • Data connection
    • 209MB free memory (file size is 208MB)

    Download and install software update

    You can download and install the software update:

    From the phone

    From a computer

     

     

    Update software from the phone

    To check for updates and download the update from servers, follow these steps:

     

    1. From the Home screen, tap the Menumenu key medium.pngkey.
    2. Tap System settings.
    3. Select the General tab.
    4. Scroll to 'SYSTEM,' then tap About phone.
    5. Tap Update Centers.
    6. Tap System updates.
    7. Tap Check now.
    8. Follow on screen prompts:

    Note: If no update is available or your device is not yet eligible, your device will display ‘Your system is up to date’.

    1. Click Download.
    2. Once the update is downloaded and verified, check for a system update icon in the Notification bar.
    3. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Notification bar, and tap the System update downloaded notification to continue installing the update.
    4. Tap Restart & install. Your phone will restart and begin the update process.

     

     

    Update software from a computer

    To download updates for your phone and install them using a computer, follow these steps:

     

    Prepare the phone

    • Fully charge the battery.
    • Save any important data before updating the software on your device. Any data not saved on a micro SD card or PC may be erased (contacts, images, etc.)
    • Remove the micro SD memory card.
    • Close all open applications on your computer before proceeding with the update.
    • Ensure device "Mass storage only" mode is NOT selected.

     

    Install device drivers

    In order to connect your phone to your PC, you must download and install the latest driver to your PC. Download the device driver from http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/TMUS_Update. After the driver has been installed, restart the computer.

       

    Install LG Mobile Support Tool

    In order to update the sofware on your phone, you must download and install the LG Mobile Support Tool to your PC. Download the LG Mobile Support Tool from http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/TMUS_Update.

     

    Connect Device and Start Update

    1. Connect your phone to your PC using the USB cable included with your device.
      • Do not tap "Turn on USB storage" on your phone screen.
      • Do not disconnect the USB cable until the update is complete.
      • If you experience errors, ensure "Mass storage only" is not checked, check USB connection, or try another port.
    2. Click Start Updating in the LG Mobile Support Tool.
    3. When update is complete the LG Mobile Support Tool will display Update complete.
    4. The phone will turn off then turn on. Once the phone is powered on, the LG Mobile Support Tool will dipaly the current software version. It is now OK to disconnect the USB cable from the phone.
