Device lock

Change device lock password / PIN

To change device lock password or PIN, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Touch ID & Passcode.
  3. Enter the current passcode.
  4. Tap Change Passcode.
  5. Enter the current passcode.
  6. Enter the new passcode and tap Next.
  7. Re-enter the new passcode and tap Done.

 

 

Turn on / off device lock

To turn on or turn off the device lock password or PIN, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Touch ID & Passcode.
  3. If prompted, enter the current passcode.
  4. Tap Turn Passcode On or Turn Passcode Off.
  5. Enter the current password or setup a new one.

 

 

Touch ID

On the iPhone 5s, you can use a fingerprint instead of your passcode or Apple ID to unlock iPhone or make purchases on the iTunes & App Store.

 

Setup Touch ID

  1. Ensure that you have already setup your Passcode Lock above.
  2. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  3. Tap Touch ID & Passcode.
  4. If prompted, enter the device passcode.
  5. Tap Touch ID.
  6. Choose if you wish to use Touch ID for the following:
    • iPhone Unlock
    • iTunes & App Store
  7. Tap Add a Fingerprint.
  8. Follow the onscreen instructions to add a fingerprint.
    • Note: You can setup more than one fingerprint, including different fingers or people.

 

Use the Touch ID sensor

  • Touch the Home button with the finger you used to setup your fingerprint.
  • You can unlock your iPhone from the lock screen or the password screen.
    • You can also press the Home button once to wake the iPhone 5s and keep your finger lightly on the Home button.
  • iTunes & App Store will prompt you when needed for Touch ID.
  • The device will require the passcode be entered in the following situations:
    • After too many failed attempts to use Touch ID.
    • After restarting your iPhone 5s.
    • When more than 48 hours have elapsed from the last time you unlocked your iPhone 5s.
    • To enter the Touch ID & Passcode settings.

 

Delete a fingerprint

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Touch ID & Passcode.
  3. Enter the device passcode.
  4. Tap Touch ID.
  5. Tap Edit.
  6. Tap next to the fingerprint you want to delete.

Related errors:

  • 'PIN code blocked. Enter PUK code:'
  • 'Enter PUK code'
  • 'SIM card locked. Emergency calls only. Please contact Customer Care'

 

If you enter a PIN code incorrectly several times in a row, the device blocks you from attempting again. To enter a PUK code and unblock the PIN, follow these steps:

 

Important: You must call Customer Care for the PUK code. Entering the wrong code can permanently damage your SIM card.

 

  1. Contact Customer Care to request your PUK code.
  2. When prompted on the Dialer screen, enter the PUK code.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to create a new PIN code.

SIM PIN

Change SIM PIN

To change the SIM PIN code, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Phone.
  3. Tap SIM PIN.
  4. If necessary, drag the SIM PIN slider to ON.
    • Note:The default SIM PIN is 1234.
  5. Tap Change  PIN.
  6. Enter the Current PIN.
  7. Enter the New PIN.
  8. Confirm New PIN.
  9. Tap Save.

 

Turn on / off SIM PIN

The SIM PIN code can protect your SIM from being used in other devices. When you turn on the SIM PIN lock, the device prompts you to enter the code after turning it on.

 

To lock and unlock the SIM card, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Phone.
  3. Tap SIM PIN.
  4. Tap the SIM PIN slider to enable or disable.
