    Master reset

    Master reset from settings menu

    A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

     

    To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

     

    1. Back up all data on the internal memory.
    2. From the Home screen, scroll to and select All.
    3. Scroll to and select Options.
    4. Scroll to and select Security.
    5. Scroll to and select Security Wipe.
    6. Select or clear the check boxes next to the following options:
      • Emails, Contacts, etc.
      • User Installed Applications
      • Media Card
    7. Scroll to the text field and enter blackberry.
    8. Scroll to and select Wipe Data.

    Safe mode

    Turn on and use safe mode

    Safe mode allows you to turn on the device with third-party apps disabled. Then you can easily remove all apps that may be causing a conflict or software problem.

     

    To turn on safe mode and use it to fix app problems, follow these steps:

     

    1. Remove and reinsert the BlackBerry smartphone battery.
    2. Once the loading bar is displayed on the screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, press and hold the Back Arrow.
    3. Wait until you hear beeping or the loading bar completes, then release the Back Arrow.
    4. When the BlackBerry smartphone boots up the Safe Mode disclaimer listed below appears, click OK to dismiss the disclaimer.

     

     

    Turn off safe mode

    To turn off safe mode, follow these steps:

     

    1. Remove and reinsert the BlackBerry smartphone battery.
    2. Do not hold the Back Arrow.
