Manage memory

To manage the internal memory, follow these steps:

  • If the device is slow, remove the widgets from Home screens (especially ones that update with information orhave animation).
  • If you are using live wallpaper and the device is slow, turn off the live wallpaper.
  • Remove all unused Home screens:
    • Pinch the Home screen.
    • On the grid of Home screens, drag unused screens to the trash.

 

 

Task manager

A task manager can view running apps and close them. To use the task manager, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Applications.
  2. Scroll to and tap Task Manager.
  3. Tap the Active applications tab.
  4. Scroll to the desired application.
  5. Tap Exit.

 

 

View free memory

To view the amount of free internal memory, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu menu.jpg key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap Storage.
  4. View Available space for the SD card, for USB storage, and for Device memory.

Manage storage

To manage the internal storage space, follow these steps:

 

Clear storage regularly

Clear the storage at least once a week:

Note: Refer to your user manual for instructions.

 

  • Check the available internal device storage. It must be over 25 MB for all versions up to Android 3.1 or over 150 MB for Android 4.0+.
    Note: If it is less, the Android system cannot work properly. You must clear more storage and delete more apps using the following tips.
  • Delete unnecessary text messages (SMS) and picture messages (MMS).
  • Transfer pictures and media to a computer, and remove it from the phone memory.
  • Clear the browser cache, cookies, or history.
  • Clear Facebook app cache.
  • Manage applications. See section below.
  • Delete the call logs.

 

 

 

View free storage space

To view the amount of free internal storage, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu menu.jpg key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap SD Card and Phone Storage.
  4. View Available space for the SD card, for USB storage, and for Device memory.

SD card

Format SD card

Formatting the SD card deletes all data on it. You may wish to format the SD card if you want to delete the files, if files or apps on the SD card are not working, or if the SD card is not working.

 

To format the SD card while inserted in the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. Back up data on the storage or SD card, if desired.
  2. Plug the device into a computer with a USB cable.
  3. From the Notification bar, verify that Disk Drive or Mass Storage mode are selected.

  4. On the computer Start menu, navigate to Computer or My Computer.
  5. Find the Removable disk located under devices with removable storage.

  6. Right-click the removable disk.
  7. Click Format.

  8. Verify the file system is set at FAT32 and Quick Format is selected.

  9. Click Start.
  10. Wait a few minutes for the computer to format the SD card.
    Note: If errors appear during this process, the SD card is likely defective.

 

 

Insert / remove SD card

To insert or remove the SD card, follow these steps:

 

    1. Pull open the MicroSD port cover on the side of the phone.
    2. Insert the memory card with the gold contacts facing down as shown.

  1. Push in until it clicks into place.

  To remove the memory card, follow these steps;

  1. Pull open the MicroSD port cover on the side of the phone.
  2. Push the memory card in, it will click and eject slightly.
  3. Slide the card out of the slot.

 

 

Open or delete files using a computer

To open or delete files on the SD card using a computer, follow these steps:

 

  1. Press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wireless and network.
  4. Tap USB utilities.
  5. Tap Connect storage to PC.
  6. Connect the small end of the USB cable to your phone and the large end to the computer’s USB port.
  7. Tap Mass Storage.
  8. On the computer, select Open folder to view files in the Removable Disk window and then tap OK.
  9. You can now access the files on your phone and on your phone’s optional microSD memory card (if one is installed) using Windows Explorer on the computer.

 

To delete files on a memory card from a computer, follow these steps:

 

    1. Connect the USB cord to the phone, then to a computer.
    2. Tap Mass storage.
    3. Tap Connect storage to PC.
    4. Tap OK.
    5. When a Removable Disk window appears on your computer, click Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer.

    1. Tap OK.
    2. On the computer, double-click the memory card folder that contains the file you want to delete.
    3. Right-click the file you want to delete and then click Delete.
    4. Tap Yes.
Caution
  1. : Do not disconnect the USB cable while the file is being deleted.
  2. When you are finished, click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray of your computer.
  3. Tap Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device.
  4. On your phone, tap Disconnect storage from PC.
  5. Disconnect the USB cable from your phone.

 

 

Open or delete files using the device

To open or delete files on the SD card using the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. We're sorry but this feature is not available on your device.

 

 

Set default memory storage

By default, the device stores data on the [SD card or internal storage]. To set the default memory storage to another location, follow these steps:

 

  1. All media files save to the memory card. All applications from Play Store save to the phone memory.

 

 

Transfer files between computer & SD card

To transfer files and pictures between the computer and SD card, follow these steps:

 

    1. Connect the USB cord to the phone, then to a computer.
    2. Tap Mass storage.
    3. Tap Connect storage to PC.
    4. Tap OK.
    5. When a Removable Disk window appears on your computer, click Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer.

    2. On the computer, double-click the memory card folder into which you want to copy a file.
    3. Drag and drop the file from your computer into the memory card folder.
Caution
  1. : Do not disconnect the USB cable during file transfer.
  2. When you are finished, click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray of your computer.
  3. Tap Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device.
  4. On your phone, tap Disconnect storage from PC.
  5. Disconnect the USB cable from your phone.
