Set up

Register the 911 address

To use Wi-Fi calling, you must first register your 911 address at my.t-mobile.com. If you do not, you may see a REG09 error. To learn how to register your 911 address, see: 911 addresses: My T-Mobile.

 

 

Set phone to use Wi-Fi or mobile networks

To set the connection preference for the phone to use Wi-Fi calling or mobile networks, follow these steps:

 

In the Wi-Fi Calling app, you can choose your network preference for making and receiving calls, and sending and receiving text messages. To set the connection preference for the phone to use Wi-Fi calling or mobile networks, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap Wi-Fi Calling.
  2. Choose from the following:
    • Wi-Fi Only: To use a Wi-Fi network only.
    • Wi-Fi Preferred: To use a Wi-Fi network when you're connected to both a Wi-Fi network and mobile network.
    • Cellular PreferredTo use a mobile network when you're connected to both a Wi-Fi network and mobile network.

  1. If this is the first time you are using Wi-Fi calling, start with registering your 911 address and connection preference (above).
  2. From the Home screen, tap Wi-Fi Calling.
  3. Tap the Wi-Fi Calling switch to turn it on On.
    Note: If you move out of range of a Wi-Fi network while you're on a call, your call might be dropped.
