    Data usage

    Data usage indicator

    To turn on, set, or turn off the data usage indicator, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap System settings.
    3. Scroll to 'WIRELESS & NETWORKS'.
    4. Tap Mobile data.
    5. Choose from the following options:
      • Turn on a data usage limit
        1. Select the Limit mobile data usage check box. A new horizontal red bar appears in the graph.
        2. Touch the red bar and slide up or down to the desired data amount. When you reach this data amount, your data connection will be automatically disabled.
      • Set the data usage limit
        • Touch the red bar and slide up or down to the desired data amount. When you reach this data amount, your data connection will be automatically disabled.
      • Turn off a data usage limit
        • Clear the Limit mobile data usage check box. The red bar will disappear from the graph.
      • Set the usage warning
        • Touch the orange bar and slide up or down to set the data usage warning.
          Note: This will not automatically disable your data connection; select a very high value to avoid receiving a warning.

     

     

    View data use by app

    To view how much data certain apps are using, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap System settings.
    3. Tap Mobile data.
    4. If necessary, touch the blue bars on the graph and slide left or right to edit the time period included.
    5. Scroll down to view a list of applications sorted from most data used to least data used.
    6. Select an application to view more details.

    Browser cache

    To clear the mobile browser cache, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
    2. Tap Browser.
    3. Tap the Menu key.
    4. Tap Settings.
    5. Tap Privacy & Security.
    6. Tap Clear Cache.
    7. Tap Yes.

     

     

    Browser cookies

    To clear the mobile browser cookies, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
    2. Tap Browser.
    3. Tap the Menu key.
    4. Tap Settings.
    5. Tap Privacy & Security.
    6. Tap Clear all cookie data.
    7. Tap Yes.

     

     

    Browser history

    To clear the mobile browser history, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
    2. Tap Browser.
    3. Tap the Menu key.
    4. Tap Settings.
    5. Tap Privacy & Security.
    6. Tap Clear history.
    7. Tap Yes.

     

     

    Browser windows open/close

    To open a new browser window or close one, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
    2. Tap Browser.
    3. Tap Tabs in the upper-right corner.
    4. Choose from the following options:
      • Close a window
        1. If necessary, scroll up or down to the window you want to close.
        2. Tap the Close icon (X) in the upper-right corner of the window.
      • Open a window
        • Tap New tab.

     

     

    Turn on/off JavaScript

    To turn on or turn off JavaScript in the mobile browser, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
    2. Tap Browser.
    3. Tap the Menu key.
    4. Tap Settings.
    5. Tap Advanced.
    6. Select or clear the Enable JavaScript check box.

    Sync

    Background data

    To turn on or turn off background data, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap System settings.
    3. Scroll to 'WIRELESS & NETWORKS'.
    4. Tap Mobile data.
    5. Tap the Menu key.
    6. Select or clear the Restrict background data check box.
    7. Tap OK.

     

     

    Sync apps & accounts

    To add or edit apps and accounts to sync, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap System settings.
    3. Scroll to 'PERSONAL.'
    4. Tap Accounts & sync.
    5. Choose from the following options:
      • Set accounts to automatically sync
        • Select the Auto-sync data check box.
      • Manually sync individual accounts
        1. Under 'ACCOUNTS,' select an account to edit.
        2. If necessary, adjust any available settings.
        3. At the top of the screen, tap your email address or user name.
        4. If necessary, adjust any available settings.
        5. Tap the Menu key.
        6. Tap Sync now.
