Learn how to set custom ringtones and notifications on the Nokia Lumia 925.

 

 

 

 

 

Notifications

 

To change the notification sounds, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Start screen, touch the screen and slide left.
  2. Scroll down to and tap Settings.
  3. Tap ringtones+sounds.
  4. Tap one of the following fields:
    • New text or IM
    • New voicemail
    • New email
  5. Select the sound file you want to use.

 

 

Ringtones

 

To change the ringtone, follow these steps:

 

Ringtone for all calls

  1. Transfer the music, song, or sound file to the Ringtones folder on the device.
  2. From the Start screen, touch the screen and slide left.
  3. Scroll down to and tap Settings.
  4. Tap ringtones+sounds.
  5. Tap the Ringtone field.
  6. Under 'Custom,' select the sound file you want to use.

 

Ringtone for calls from one contact

  1. Transfer the music, song, or sound file to the Ringtones folder on the device.
  2. From the Start screen, tap the People tile.
  3. If necessary, touch the screen and slide left or right to view the 'all' screen.
  4. Select the contact you want to edit.
  5. Tap the Edit icon.
  6. Tap ringtone.
  7. Under 'Custom,' select the sound file you want to use.

 

 

Transfer music or sounds to use

 

Some devices require you to transfer music, sounds, or other audio files to the device in a certain way for it to be used for ringtones and notifications. To transfer these files, follow these steps:

  1. Connect the phone to your computer using the provided USB cable.
  2. Choose one of the following options:
    • If you're using Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP, open Windows Explorer from the taskbar.
    • If you're using Windows 8, go to Desktop view, and then open File Explorer from the taskbar.
  3. In Windows Explorer or File Explorer, under 'Computer,' click your phone's name.
    Note: The default device name is 'Windows Phone.'
  4. Double-click the Phone drive.
  5. Double-click the Ringtones folder.
  6. In another Windows Explorer or File Explorer window, navigate to the file(s) you want to transfer.
  7. Drag and drop the file(s) you want to transfer from your computer into the Ringtones folder on your phone.
  8. When finished, safely disconnect the phone from the computer.
