Back up data

Back up apps

To back up your apps, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Backup and reset.

    You must be logged in to a Google account to back up your apps. If necessary, tap HTC account, tap Add account, and then follow the prompts to log in to or create a Google account.
  4. If necessary, tap Backup my data to select the check box.
  5. If necessary, tap Backup account to select the check box.

 

 

Back up contacts

To back up your contacts, follow these steps:

 

Note: Google G-mail account can still be used for contact backup as well

 

  1. Open the People app.
  2. On the People tab, tap image002.png > Manage contacts.
  3. Tap Import/Export contacts > Export to phone storage.
  4. Select an account or type of contacts to export
  5. Tap OK.

 

 

 

Back up media & pictures

To back up your media and pictures, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect the included USB cord to the phone, then to your computer.
  2. On a Windows computer, an AutoPlay window appears. Double-click Open device to view files using Windows Explorer.

    Note: On a Mac OS X computer, double-click the virtual drive icon that appears on the desktop.mac icon.png
  3. On the computer, double-click the desired folder to access your phone’s files.
  4. Drag and drop the file from the internal storage folder into a folder on your computer.
  5. On a Windows computer, when you are finished, click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray in the lower right-hand corner of your computer desktop.
  6. Click Eject.
    Note: On a Mac OS X computer, when you are finished, drag and drop the virtual drive icon into Trash/Eject.
  7. Disconnect the USB cord from your computer and then from your phone.

Restore data

Restore apps

To restore backed up apps, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Accounts & sync.
  4. Tap the Menu key.
  5. Tap Sync all.

 

 

Restore contacts

To restore backed up contacts, follow these steps:

 

Note: You can only restore contacts that were backed up using the Export to phone storage feature.

  1. On the People tab, tap image002.png > Manage contacts.
  2. Tap Import/Export contacts > Import from phone storage.
  3. Tap the account type for the imported contacts, if more than one account is set up.

 

 

Restore media & pictures

To restore backed up media and pictures, follow these steps:

  1. Connect the included USB cord to the phone, then to your computer.
