    Change device lock password / PIN

    To change device lock password or PIN, follow these steps:

     

    Change device lock password

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Security.
    4. Tap Screen lock.
    5. Enter your current password.
    6. Tap Next.
    7. Tap Password.
    8. Enter your new password.
    9. Tap Continue.
    10. Enter your new password again to confirm.
    11. Tap OK.

     

    Change device lock PIN

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Security.
    4. Tap Screen lock.
    5. Enter your current PIN.
    6. Tap Next.
    7. Tap PIN.
    8. Enter your new PIN.
    9. Tap Continue.
    10. Enter your new PIN again to confirm.
    11. Tap OK.

     

    Turn on / off device lock

    To turn on or turn off the device lock password or PIN, follow these steps:

     

    Turn on face unlock

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Security.
    4. Tap Screen lock.
    5. Tap Face unlock.
    6. Review the Best Results page.
    7. Tap Set it up, and then tap Continue.
    8. Center your face in the dotted lines. When the dotted circle completes, your face will be captured.
    9. Tap Continue.
    10. Select one of the following back-up locks:
      • PIN
      • Pattern
    11. Tap Continue.
    12. Confirm your backup lock.
    13. Tap OK.

     

    Turn off face unlock

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
    3. Tap Security.
    4. Tap Screen lock.
    5. Enter your PIN.
    6. Tap Next.
    7. Tap None to disable unlock settings.

     

    Turn on password lock

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
    3. Tap Security.
    4. Tap Screen lock.
    5. Tap Password.
    6. Enter the password.
    7. Tap Continue.
    8. Enter the password again to confirm.
    9. Tap OK.

     

    Turn off password lock

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
    3. Tap Security.
    4. Tap Screen lock.
    5. Enter the password.
    6. Tap Next.
    7. Tap None to disable unlock settings.

     

    Turn on pattern lock

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
    3. Tap Security.
    4. Tap Screen lock.
    5. Tap Pattern.
    6. Read the instructions for creating a personal screen unlock pattern to secure your phone.
    7. Tap Next.
    8. If prompted, review the simulation.
    9. Tap Next.
    10. Touch the screen and slide your finger to draw a pattern, connecting at least four dots.
    11. Tap Continue.
    12. Touch the screen and slide your finger to draw your pattern again.
    13. Tap Confirm.

     

    Turn off pattern lock

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
    3. Tap Security.
    4. Tap Screen lock.
    5. Touch the screen and slide your finger to draw your pattern.
    6. Tap None to disable unlock settings.

     

    Turn on PIN lock

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
    3. Tap Security.
    4. Tap Screen lock.
    5. Tap PIN.
    6. Enter the PIN.
    7. Tap Continue.
    8. Enter the PIN again to confirm.
    9. Tap OK.

     

    Turn off PIN lock

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
    3. Tap Security.
    4. Tap Screen lock.
    5. Enter the PIN.
    6. Tap Continue.
    7. Tap None to disable unlock settings.

    PUK code unlock

    PUK code unlock

    Related errors:

    • 'PIN code blocked. Enter PUK code:'
    • 'Enter PUK code'
    • 'SIM card locked. Emergency calls only. Please contact Customer Care'

    If you enter a PIN code incorrectly several times in a row, the device blocks you from attempting again. To enter a PUK code and unblock the PIN, follow these steps:

     

    Important: You must call Customer Care for the PUK code. Entering the wrong code can permanently damage your SIM card.

     

    1. Contact Customer Care to request your PUK code.
    2. On any Home screen, tap Phone to open the dialer.
      Note: If your phone is not yet PUK locked, tap Emergency Call on the screen where you enter the PIN code.
    3. Enter **05*[PUK]*[New PIN]*[New PIN]#
    4. When the phone displays 'Unblocking PIN: Registration was successful,' tap OK.

    SIM PIN

    Change SIM PIN

    Note: You can only change the SIM PIN code when the SIM card is locked.

     

    To change the SIM PIN code, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
    3. Tap Security.
    4. Tap Set up SIM card lock.
      Note: If unselected, tap Lock SIM card, enter current PIN code and tap OK.
    5. Tap Change SIM PIN.
    6. Enter the old SIM PIN code.
      Note: The default SIM PIN code is 1234.
    7. Tap OK.
    8. Enter the new SIM PIN code.
    9. Tap OK.
    10. Enter the new SIM PIN code again to confirm.
    11. Tap OK.

     

     

    Turn on / off SIM PIN

    The SIM PIN code can protect your SIM from being used in other devices. When you turn on the SIM PIN lock, the device prompts you to enter the code after turning it on.

     

    To lock and unlock the SIM card, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
    3. Tap Security.
    4. Tap Set up SIM card lock.
    5. Select or clear the Lock SIM card bubble.
    6. Enter current PIN code.
    7. Tap OK.
