    We're sorry, this feature is not available on this device; text-to-speech is already set up and enabled by default.

     

     

    Settings

    Text to speech reads messages out loud, allowing you to listen to text or messages instead of reading them. To change text to speech settings, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
    3. Scroll to and tap Language & Keyboard.
    4. Tap Google Text-to-speech Engine.
    5. Tap Language.
    6. Select the desired language option.
    7. Tap Install voice data.
    8. If necessary, download the desired voice data.
    9. Tap the Back key, and then tap the Back key again.
    10. Under 'General,' tap Speech rate.
    11. Select the desired rate.

    Voice commands

    Open an app

    To open apps using voice commands, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap the Search icon.
    3. Touch and hold the Microphone/period key on the keyboard.
    4. Say the name of the application you want to open.

     

     

    Voice dial a contact

    To use voice dialing to call a contact, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Phone icon.
    2. Tap the Microphone icon.
    3. If prompted tap Agree or Disagree to confirm or deny Use My Location.
    4. Speak the name of the contact you want to call.
    5. If prompted, tap the correct name from the pop-up list.
    6. Tap the contact to dial.

     

     

    Write a text message (SMS) with voice

    To write and send a text message (SMS) using voice commands, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Messages icon.
    2. Tap Compose.
    3. At 'To,' touch and hold the Microphone/period key on the keyboard.
    4. Say the name of a contact or say the recipient's phone number.
    5. Tap the Add text field.
    6. Touch and hold the Microphone/period key on the keyboard.
    7. Say the text you want to enter for the SMS.
    8. Tap Send.
