Bluetooth

Pair Bluetooth device

To turn on Bluetooth and pair with a headset or other device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. Tap Bluetooth.
  4. If necessary, turn on Bluetooth.
  5. Under 'Available devices,' select a device from the list
    Note: If you do not see the device listed, tap SEARCH FOR DEVICES to refresh.
  6. If necessary verify the pass key is correct.
  7. Tap Pair.
  8. On the other device, accept the pairing. The connected device will now appear under 'Paired devices.'

 

 

Turn on/off Bluetooth

To turn on or turn off Bluetooth, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  2. Tap Bluetooth to turn on or turn off.
    Note: When Bluetooth is active, the icon fills with green.

Emergency Alerts

Turn on/off Emergency Alerts

To turn on or turn off Emergency Alert messages that push to the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. If necessary, tap the APPS tab.
  3. Scroll to and then tap WEA.
  4. Tap the Menu key, and then tap Settings.
  5. Select or clear the following options:
    • Extreme alerts
    • Severe alerts
    • Show AMBER alerts

GPS

Turn on/off GPS

To turn on or turn off GPS, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  2. If necessary, touch the shortcut bar at the top of the screen and slide left.
  3. Tap GPS to turn on or turn off.
    Note: When GPS is active, the icon fills with green.

Network

APN & data settings

To set the Access Point Name (APN) and turn on data settings, follow these steps:

 

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. If necessary, tap the All tab.
  4. Tap Mobile networks.
  5. Tap Access Point Names.
  6. Tap the Menu key.
  7. Tap New APN.
  8. Enter the new APN information as necessary.
  9. Tap the Menu key.
  10. Tap Save.

 

 

Manual network selection

To manually select the wireless network the device connects to, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. If necessary, tap the All tab.
  4. Tap Mobile networks.
  5. Tap Network operators.
  6. Tap Search networks.
  7. Select a network from the list.

 

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

 

 

Switch 2G/3G

To change the band between 2G and 3G, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. If necessary, tap the All tab.
  4. Tap Mobile networks.
  5. Select or clear the Use only 2G networks check box.
    Note: If the option is not selected, the device will use 3G networks whenever possible.

 

 

Turn on/off Airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows you to use apps and menus, but not make calls or use the internet.

 

To turn on or turn off airplane mode, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  2. If necessary, touch the shortcut bar at the top of the screen and slide left.
  3. Tap Airplane to turn on or turn off.
    Note: When Airplane mode is active, the icon fills with green.

 

 

Turn on/off data roaming

To turn on or turn off data roaming, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. Tap Mobile networks.
  4. Select or clear the Data roaming check box.

System Manager (Carrier IQ)

Opt in/out of System Manager

System Manager makes it easier for T-Mobile to help with problems that happen when using your device. To opt in or opt out of System Manager, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. Scroll down to 'Personal,' and then tap Backup & Reset.
  4. Tap Collect Diagnostics.
  5. Select or clear the Allow Diagnostics check box to opt in or opt out.

Wi-Fi

Delete Wi-Fi network profile

To delete a saved Wi-Fi network profile, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. If necessary, turn on Wi-Fi.
  5. Touch and hold the network you want to delete.
  6. Tap Forget network.

 

 

Scan & connect to Wi-Fi network

To scan for and connect to available Wi-Fi networks, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. If necessary, turn on Wi-Fi.
  5. If prompted, tap Skip or Learn more on the Wi-Fi Calling screen.
  6. Select a network from the list.
  7. If required, enter the network password.
  8. Tap Connect.

 

 

Turn on/off Wi-Fi

To turn on or turn off Wi-Fi, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi to turn on or turn off.

To determine when you have an active Wi-Fi connection, refer to these icons:
