    Internal memory (RAM)

    Manage memory

    To manage the internal memory, follow these steps:

     

    Restart device regularly

    Note: You should restart your phone at least once per day.

    1. Press and hold the Power key.
    2. Tap Power off and restart.


    Reduce memory use

    Note: If your phone is running slow, then you can reduce the amount of memory it is using.

    • Reduce your RAM clear period
      1. From any screen, press and hold the Home key.
      2. Tap Task Manager.
      3. Tap the Menu key and then tap Settings.
        Note: Make sure the Check box for 'Auto Clear RAM' is selected.
      4. Tap Auto-clear period.
      5. Tap the desired setting that determines how often your RAM is cleared.

     

    • Remove widgets (Animated widgets and widgets that update information use the most memory)
      1. From the desired Home screen, touch and hold on the widget.
      2. Drag the widget over Remove and release your finger.

    • Replace a Live wallpaper
      1. From any Home screen, touch and hold on the screen and then tap Wallpapers.
      1. Tap either Gallery or the a Wallpaper thumbnail to the right of Live Wallpapers.
      2. Follow the prompts to set a new wallpaper that replaces the current Live wallpaper. 
               
    • Remove unused Home screens
      1. From any Home screen tap the Menu key and then tap Edit home screens.
      2. Touch and hold on the Home screen to be deleted.
      3. Drag it over Remove and release your finger. Tap OK.


    Manage applications

    Note: Manage your applications to keep your device running smoothly.

    • Research and monitor new applications that you install
      • Read Play Store application reviews before installing. Not all applications run smoothly on phones. Read customer reviews before downloading an application to see if it has a history of not working properly.
      • If your device starts having problems after installing an application, consider uninstalling the application.

    • Keep applications updated
      1. From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
      2. Tap Play Store.
      3. Tap the Menu key and then tap My Apps.
        Note: To keep your apps automatically updated, tap the Menu key, tap Settings, and then tap Auto-update apps to select the Check box.
      4. Choose one of the following options:
        • Tap Update [x] to update all applications with updates available.
        • Tap an individual application and then tap Update to update a single application.
           
    • Uninstall third-party applications (see 'Uninstall App')

     

     

    • Clear recent applications
      1. From any screen, press and hold the Home key.
      2. To close an individual recent application, touch an application from the list and drag it to the right.
      3. To close all recent applications, tap Clear all.

     

    • Never install a third-party Task Manager or Battery Manager
      • These applications interfere with how Android works

     

    Task manager

    A task manager can view running apps and close them. To use the task manager, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
    2. Tap Task Manager.
    3. Next to the desired application, tap Stop to stop running the application. Otherwise, tap Stop all to stop running all active applications.
    4. Tap the Menu key and then tap Settings.
    5. To automatically clear your RAM:
      • Tap Auto clear RAM to select the Check box.
      • Tap Auto clear period and tap the desired setting.
    6. To prevent automatically clearing of RAM, tap Auto clear RAM to clear the Check box.
    7. To adjust advanced settings, tap Stop services and then read the message before proceeding. 

     

     

    View free memory

    To view the amount of free internal memory, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap App settings.
    3. If necessary, swipe left or right to the Running screen.
    4. View the free value at bottom-right.

    Internal storage (ROM)

    To manage the internal storage space, follow these steps:

     

    Clear storage regularly

    Note: Clear storage at least once per week.

    • Check the available internal device storage (see 'View free storage space' below). It must be over 150 MB for your device. The Android system cannot work properly if the internal device storage is below 150 MB. If under 150 MB, use the following tips to clear more storage:
      • Delete unnecessary text messages (SMS) and picture messages (MMS).
      • Transfer pictures and media to a computer, and remove it from the phone memory.
      • Clear the browser cache, cookies, or history.
      • Clear Facebook app cache.
      • Manage applications. See section below.
      • Delete the call logs.

     

    Adjust memory storage settings

    Follow these tips to prevent your ROM storage from quickly filling up.

    • Set text and multimedia message limits to delete messages automatically
      Note: The default is 200 text and 20 picture messages. You may use this setting to start with, and decrease it if you continue to have problems.
      1. From any Home screen, tap Messaging.
      2. Tap the Menu key and then tap Settings.
      3. Tap Storage.
      4. Tap Text message limit and then swipe up or down to the desired limit. Tap OK.
      5. Tap Multimedia message limit and then swipe up or down to the desired limit. Tap OK.

    • Change Gmail synchronization setting to every three days
      1. From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
      2. Tap Gmail.
      3. Tap the Menu key and then tap Settings.
      4. Tap your email address.
      5. Tap Days of mail to sync.
      6. Swipe down until 3 is selected.
      7. Tap OK.

    • Change Email storage location to SD card.
      Note: You must be logged in to your Email account.
      1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
      2. Tap System settings.
      3. Tap Accounts & sync.
      4. Tap Email.
      5. Tap Email settings.
      6. Tap Storage.
      7. Tap SD card.

     

    Manage applications

          Monitor new applications that you install

    • If your device starts having problems after installing an application, consider uninstalling the application.
    • Consider uninstall apps using large amounts of ROM.
    • From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    • Tap App settings.
    • If necessary, swipe left or right to the All screen.
    • To sort apps from largest ROM users to lowest, tap the Menu key and then tap Sort by size. The apps using the most ROM are now listed at the top of the list.
    • Tap the desired application to be uninstalled.
    • Tap Uninstall and then tap OK.

     

     

    View free storage space

    To view the amount of free internal storage, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap System settings.
    3. Tap Storage.
    4. Under the INTERNAL STORAGE section, view the Available value.
      Note: Inside the bar graph, the available storage is represented by the black region.

    SD card

    Format SD card

    Formatting the SD card deletes all data on it. You may wish to format the SD card if you want to delete the files, if files or apps on the SD card are not working, or if the SD card is not working.

     

    To format the SD card while inserted in the device, follow these steps:

     

    1. From the home screen, press Menu.
    2. Tap System settings.
    3. Tap Storage
    4. If Erase SD card is grayed out, tap Unmount SD card.
    5. Tap Erase SD Card.
    6. Accept any warning messages.
    7. Tap Erase SD card again.
      Note: If you use a pattern lock or password, you may need to enter it.
    8. Tap Erase everything.
    9. Press the Home key to return to the main screen.
    10. If necessary, take a picture in order to test the device. Many devices only take photos if a properly formatted SD card is inserted.

     

     

    Insert / remove SD card

    To insert or remove the SD card, follow these steps:


    Insert

    1. Power the phone off.
    2. Remove the back cover using the notch located at the bottom of the phone.
    3. Insert the memory card into the slot with the gold contacts facing down.

    4. Replace the back cover

     

    Remove

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap System settings.
    3. Tap Storage.
    4. Tap Unmount SD card and then tap OK.
    5. Power the phone off.
    6. Remove the back cover using the notch located at the bottom middle of the phone.
    7. Gently push down on the top of the memory card until it clicks out of place.

    8. Gently pull the memory card with gold from the slot.

     

     

    Open or delete files using a computer

    To open or delete files on the SD card using a computer, follow these steps:

     

    1. Connect USB cable to the phone, then to a computer.
    2. On your phone, tap Media sync (MTP) when the pop-up window appears.
      Note: Your computer may start to automatically download a LG USB driver. Do do not unplug the USB cable until the drivers finish installing.
    3. On the computer, click the Open device to view files using Windows Explorer folder or else navigate to and open your device's storage drive.
    4. Double-click SD card.
    5. Navigate to and open the desired folder.
    6. Open or delete the desired files. To delete, click one time one the file, press Ctrl + D, and then click Yes.
    7. When finished, safely disconnect the phone from the computer.

     

     

    Open or delete files using the device

    To open or delete files on the SD card using the device, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
    2. Tap File Manager.
    3. Tap External_SD to enter your SD card.
    4. Navigate to the desired files or folders.
    5. At the bottom of the screen, tap the Trash can icon.
    6. Tap each folder or file to be deleted to select the file(s) or folder(s).
    7. Tap Delete and then tap Yes.

     

     

    Set default memory storage

    By default, the device stores data on either the SD card or internal storage depending on the application. To set the default memory storage to another location, follow these steps:


    Camera

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
    2. Tap Camera.
    3. Tap Settings.
    4. Swipe up on the menu and then tap Storage.
    5. Tap one of the following options:

      • SD card
      • Internal memory

     

    Browser

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
    2. Tap Browser.
    3. Tap the Menu key and then tap Settings.
    4. Tap Advanced.
    5. Tap Storage.
    6. Tap one of the following options:

      • SD card
      • Internal memory


     

     

    Transfer files between computer & SD card

    To transfer files and pictures between the computer and SD card, follow these steps:


    1. Connect USB cable to the phone, then to a computer.
    2. On your phone, tap Media sync (MTP) when the pop-up window appears.

    Transfer files between internal storage & SD card

    To transfer files and pictures between the internal storage and SD card, follow these steps:


    1. From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
    2. Tap File Manager.
    3. Tap sdcard0 to enter your device's internal storage.
    4. Navigate to the desired files or folders.
    5. Tap the Menu key and then tap Copy.
    6. Tap each desired file or folder to select the Check box.
    7. Tap Copy. You are automatically redirected back to the File Manager home screen and 'Copy to' appears at top-left.
    8. Tap external_SD to enter your device's external memory card.
    9. Navigate to where you want to copy the files and then tap Paste.

     

     

    View free SD card space

    To view the amount of free SD card storage, follow these steps:


    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap System settings.
    3. Tap Storage.
    4. Under the SD CARD section, view the Available value.
      Note: Inside the bar graph, the available storage is represented by the black region.
