Insert/remove battery

To insert or remove the battery in your device, follow these steps:

 

Insert

  1. Remove the back cover using the notch located at the bottom of the phone.
  2. Align the gold contacts on the battery with the gold contacts in the battery compartment.
  3. Press the battery into place.
  4. Replace the back cover by pressing it onto the phone.

 

Remove

  1. Power the phone off.
  2. Remove the back cover using the notch located at the bottom of the phone.
  3. Lift the battery out of the compartment using the gap located above the battery slot.

Tips to save battery life

To save and extend battery life, follow these steps:

 

Adjust screen settings

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. If necessary, tap the All tab.
  4. Scroll to 'DEVICE,' and then tap Display.
  5. Tap Brightness.
  6. If necessary, clear the Automatic brightness check box.
  7. Touch the Brightness slider and slide left to lower the screen brightness.
  8. Tap OK.
  9. Tap Sleep.
  10. Tap 15 seconds.

 

 

Turn off Bluetooth, GPS, and Wi-Fi

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  2. If necessary, tap the following icons to turn off:
    • Wi-Fi
    • Bluetooth
  3. Touch the shortcut bar and slide left.
  4. If necessary, tap GPS to turn off.

 

 

Turn off Auto-Sync

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  2. If necessary, touch the shortcut bar and slide left.
  3. Tap Auto-Sync to turn off.

 

 

Use 2G networks only

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. If necessary, tap the All tab.
  4. Tap Mobile networks.
  5. Select the Use only 2G networks check box.

 

 

Check for software update

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. If necessary, tap the All tab.
  4. Scroll down to and tap About phone.
  5. Tap System updates.
  6. Tap Check now.
  7. If a new update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to update your phone.

 

 

Set phone to sleep

  • To put the phone into sleep mode, press and quickly release the Power key.
  • To activate the phone, press and quickly release the Power key.

 

 

Update third-party applications

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Play Store.
  3. Tap the Menu key, and then tap My apps.
  4. If necessary, touch the screen and slide right to view the 'INSTALLED' screen.
  5. Tap Update.
  6. Scroll through and review your installed applications for the following:
    • Available updates that haven't been downloaded yet
    • Low ratings (1 or 2 stars)
    • Comments indicating battery issues
    • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, or network access
      Note: Tap Security Permissions to see the application's current access

 

 

Uninstall third-party applications

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Manage apps.
  3. If necessary, touch the screen and slide right to view the 'DOWNLOADED' screen.
  4. Select the application you want to delete.
  5. Tap Uninstall.
  6. Tap OK.

 

 

Check battery usage

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. If necessary, tap the All tab.
  4. Scroll to 'DEVICE,' and then tap Battery.
  5. Review which features are using your battery.
  6. To extend battery life, reduce your usage of the features which consume your battery most.
