Understanding the software version

Beginning February 11, a software update will be available for the myTouch Q by LG to software version LGC800-V10x-FEB-11-2013. The update will be sent to devices via OTA.

 

This update is available via OTA only:

 

  • Over the air (OTA) update: T-Mobile will push the update to your device sometime between February 11 and February 26. We cannot expedite how soon we send the OTA to individuals.

Check software version

To check the current software version, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Menu key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch About phone.
  4. Scroll down to view the software version number.

 

Download update from [OEM]

You can check for updates and request to download the update from the [OEM] servers. To check for updates and download, follow these steps:


Prepare for the update

  • The update can take 10-30 minutes.
  • Do not disconnect the USB cable until the update is completed.
  • Calling and messaging functions are not available during the update process.
  • The handset is automatically reset during this process.

Prepare the T-Mobile myTouch

  1. Fully charge the battery.
  2. Save any important data onto your PC before updating the software on your device.
  3. Remove the SD Card.

Update the driverIn order to connect your phone to your PC, you must download and install the latest driver below to your PC.

  1. Close all open applications on your computer before proceeding with the update.
  2. Connect your USB cable directly to the computer. Do not use a USB Hub.
  3. Open a web browser and visit http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/TMUS_Update/index.jsp.
  4. Click the Click here to download your mobile driver link and download the file to the Desktop.

    Note: The driver link will not work properly in older versions of FireFox. It is recommended that you use IE.
  5. Open the LGUnitedMobileDriver_S498MA22_WHQL_ML_Ver_2.2.exe file.
  6. Double-click the LGUnitedMobileDriver_S498MA22_WHQL_ML_Ver_2.2.exe file.
  7. Click Run and follow the prompts to install/update the drivers.

 

 

Manually update over USB using [update method, such as Kies]

Install the LG Mobile Support Tool

  1. Confirm preparation has been completed.
  2. Confirm the driver has been installed.
  3. Open a web browser and visit http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/TMUS_Update/index.jsp.
  4. Click the Download button by the DOWNLOAD LG MOBILE SUPPORT TOOL TO PC link.

  5. Once the software has been installed, the Mobile Support Tool will complete the update process.
  6. Follow the prompts by clicking Start Updating.
