    Email

    Account – Add new POP3 or IMAP account

    To set up an email account, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Email.
    3. Enter your email address.
    4. Tap the Password field.
    5. Enter your password.
    6. Tap Next.
    7. Note: The email server automatically completes account setup for standard Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo!, and Windows Live POP3 and IMAP accounts.
    8. Tap Email check frequency and tap the desired setting.
    9. Tap to Notify me when email arrives to select or clear the check box and enable or disable.
    10. Tap Next.
    11. If desired, enter an account name.
    12. Enter the name you want to display on outgoing messages.
    13. Tap Done.

     

    Account – Add new Exchange email account

    To set up an Exchange account, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Accounts and sync.
    4. Tap Add account.
    5. Tap Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
    6. Enter your email address.
    7. Tap the Password field.
    8. Enter your password.
    9. Tap Manual setup.
    10. Enter your Domain in the Domain/\user name field
    11. Note: Enter Domain to the left side of the “\” character.
    12. In the same field, verify your auto-populated user name is correct. If necessary, tap to edit.
    13. Verify your Exchange server is correct. Tap the Exchange server field and edit if necessary.
    14. If necessary, tap Use secure connection (SSL) to select or clear check box and enable or disable.
    15. If necessary, tap Use client certificate to select or clear check box and enable or disable.
    16. If necessary, tap Accept all SSL certificates to select or clear check box and enable or disable.
    17. Tap Next.
    18. Read the Activation message and tap OK.
    19. Read the Remote security administration message and tap OK.
    20. Tap the Peak schedule field and tap one of the following:
      • Push
      • Manual
      • 5 minutes
      • 15 minutes
      • 1 hour
      • 4 hours
      • 12 hours
    21. Tap the Off-peak schedule field and tap one of the following:
      • Push
      • Manual
      • 5 minutes
      • 15 minutes
      • 1 hour
      • 4 hours
      • 12 hours
    22. Tap the Period to sync email field and tap one of the following:
      • Automatic
      • All
      • 1 day
      • 3 days
      • 1 week
      • 2 weeks
      • 1 month
    23. Tap the Email retrieval size box and tap the desired choice.
    24. Tap the Period to sync Calendar box and tap the desired choice.
    25. Tap Send email from this account by default to select and enable or clear and disable.
    26. Tap Notify me when email arrives to select and enable or clear and disable.
    27. Tap Sync emails to select and enable or clear and disable.
    28. Tap Sync Contacts to select and enable or clear and disable.
    29. Tap Sync Calendar to select and enable or clear and disable.
    30. Tap Sync task to select and enable or clear and disable.
    31. Tap Next.
    32. Read Activate device administrator message and tap Activate or Cancel.
    33. Enter a name for your account (optional).
    34. Tap Done.

     

    Account – Add new Gmail account

    To set up a Gmail account, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Gmail.
    3. Tap Existing.
    4. Enter your email address.
    5. Tap the Password field.
    6. Enter your password.
    7. Tap Sign in.
    8. Tap Next.

     

    Add additional accounts

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Gmail.
    3. Tap the Menu key.
    4. Tap Settings.
    5. Tap Add account.
    6. Tap Existing.
    7. Enter your email address.
    8. Tap the Password field.
    9. Enter your password.
    10. Tap Sign in.
    11. Tap Next.

     

    Account – Change settings

    To change the settings for an email account, follow these steps:

    Edit email account

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Email.
    3. Tap the Menu key.
    4. Tap Settings.
    5. Tap General preferences. Tap to select the desired settings.
    6. Tap the Back key
    7. Tap your email account.
    8. Tap to select the desired settings.

     

    Edit Gmail account

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Gmail.
    3. Tap the Menu key.
    4. Tap Settings.
    5. Tap General settings. Tap to select the desired settings.
    6. Tap the Back key
    7. Tap your email account.
    8. Tap to select the desired settings.

     

    Account – Delete

    To delete an email account, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Accounts and sync.
    4. Tap the email account to be deleted.
    5. Tap Remove account.
    6. Tap Remove account again to confirm.

     

    Delete Gmail account

    Note; The following procedure will delete your primary Google account. Therefore, performing a master reset is unnecessary for deleting the primary Google account.

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Accounts and sync.
    4. Tap the Gmail account to be deleted.
    5. Tap Remove account.
    6. Tap Remove account again to confirm.

     

    Account – Switch between accounts

    To switch between email accounts, follow these steps:

    2. Tap Email.
    3. Tap the Inbox at top of the screen.
    4. Tap the desired account.  

     

    Switch between Gmail accounts

    4. Tap the desired account.

     

    Alert – Set incoming

    To turn on or turn off email alerts, follow these steps:

    2. Tap Email.
        Note: If the desired email account is not the Inbox currently displayed, tap the Inbox at the top of the screen and then tap the desired account.
    3. Tap the Menu key.
    4. TapSettings.
    5. Under ‘Added accounts,’ tap the desired email account.
    6. Under Notification settings, tap to select or clear the Email notifications check box to enable or disable.
    7. Tap Select ringtone.
    8. Tap the desired sound and tap OK.
    9. Tap Vibrate.
    10. Tap one of the following options:
      • Always
      • Only in Silent mode
      • Never

     

    Turn on or turn off Gmail alerts

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Gmail.
    3. Note: If the desired email account is not the Inbox currently displayed, tap the Inbox at the top of the screen and then tap the desired account.
    4. Tap the Menu key.
    5. Tap Settings.
    6. Tap the desired email account.
    7. Tap to select or clear the Email notifications check box.
    8. Tap Ringtone & vibrate and tap the desired settings.

     

    Attachment – Add

    To attach files to email messages, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Email.
    3. Note: If the desired email account is not the Inbox currently displayed, tap the Inbox at the top of the screen and then tap the desired account.
    4. Tap the Compose icon.
    5. At To, enter the recipient’s email address, or tap the Contacts icon to select a recipient in your contacts.
    6. Tap the Add attachment icon.
    7. Locate and tap the file you want to attach.
    8. Tap the message field and enter a message if desired.
    9. When done, tap the Send icon.

     

    Add attachment to Gmail

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Gmail.
    3. Note: If the desired email account is not the Inbox currently displayed, tap the Inbox at the top of the screen and then tap the desired account.
    4. Tap the Compose icon.
    5. At To, enter the recipient’s email address.
    6. Note: You may tap an auto-populated email listing to complete the email address.
    7. Tap the Menu key.
    8. Tap Attach file.
    9. Locate and tap the file you want to attach.
    10. If desired, tap Compose email and enter the text of your email.
    11. When done, tap the Send icon.

     

    Email message – Delete

    To delete email messages, follow these steps:

    6. Tap OK to confirm.

     

    Delete a Gmail Message

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Gmail.
    3. Note: If the desired email account is not the Inbox currently displayed, tap the Inbox at the top of the screen and then tap the desired account.
    4. Touch and hold on the message to be deleted.
    5. A Trash Can icon appears at bottom of screen.
    6. Tap the Trash Can icon.

     

    Email message – Forward

    To forward email messages, follow these steps:

    2. Tap Email.
    3. Note: If the desired email account is not the Inbox currently displayed, tap the Inbox at the top of the screen and then tap the desired account.
    4. Tap to open the email message you want to forward.
    5. Tap the Forward icon.
    6. At To, enter the recipient’s email address, or tap the Contacts icon to select a recipient in your contacts.
    7. Tap the message field and enter the text of your email.
    8. When done, tap the Send icon.

     

    Forward Gmail message

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Gmail.
    3. Note: If the desired email account is not the Inbox currently displayed, tap the Inbox at the top of the screen and then tap the desired account.
    4. Tap to open the email message you want to forward.
    5. Tap the Send Options icon.
    6. Tap Reply.
    7. From the drop-down menu, tap Forward.
    8. At To, enter the recipient’s email address.  
    9. If desired, tap the message field and enter the text of your email.
    10. When done, tap the Send icon.

     

    Email message – Read

    To read email messages, follow these steps:

    4. Tap to open the email message you want to forward.
    5. Tap the Send Options icon to reply.
    6. At To, the recipient’s email address should be auto-populated.
    7. If desired, tap the Compose email field and enter the text of your email.
    8. When done, tap the Send icon.

    4. Tap the Compose icon.
    5. At To, enter the recipient’s email address.
    6. Tap the Subject field and enter a subject.
    7. Tap the Compose email field and enter the text of your email.
    8. If desired, tap the Menu key and tap Attach file to add attachments.
    9. When done, tap the Send icon.

     

    Folders – Switch between

    To switch between email folders within an email account, follow these steps:

    4. Tap the Menu Key.

    Switch between Gmail folders

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Gmail.
    3. Note: If the desired email account is not the Inbox currently displayed, tap the Inbox at the top of the screen and then tap the desired account.
    4. Tap the Labels icon (to the right of search).
    5. Tap the folder you want to view.

     

    Inbox – Refresh

    To refresh the email inbox and download new messages, follow these steps:

    Add contact

    To add a contact in Google Talk, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Talk.
    3. If necessary, tap your email account.
    4. Tap the Add friend icon.
    5. Enter the email address of the person to whom you want to send a chat invitation.
    6. Tap Done.

    Block contact

    To block a contact in Google Talk, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Talk.
    3. If necessary, tap your email account.
    4. Tap the contact you want to block.
    5. Note: Do not tap the picture field.
    6. Tap the Menu key.
    7. Tap Friend info.
    8. Tap Block.

    Unblock contact

    To unblock a blocked contact, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Talk.
    3. If necessary, tap your email account.
    4. Tap the Menu key.
    5. Tap Settings.
    6. Tap your email account.
    7. Under Account, tap Blocked friends.
    8. Tap the contact to be unblocked.
    9. Tap OK.

    Delete contact

    To delete a contact for Google Talk, follow these steps:

    MMS (picture / video messaging)

    Delete message

    To delete picture messages (MMS), follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap Messaging.
    2. Tap the thread containing the message you want to delete.
    3. Note: To delete the entire thread, touch and hold on the thread, then tap Delete thread.
    4. Touch and hold the picture message you want to delete.
    5. Tap Delete message
    6. Tap OK.

     

    Read messages

    To read or view picture or video messages (MMS), follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap Messaging.
    2. Tap the thread containing the desired MMS message to view.

     

    Save received picture

    To save a picture you received as a picture messages (MMS), follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap Messaging.
    2. Tap the desired thread.
    3. Touch and hold the image in the message.
    4. Tap Attached items.
    5. Tap the image file name to select the check box.
    6. Tap Save.
    7. Note: By default, images are saved to the Download folder of the device memory.

     

    Send picture – Saved

    To send saved pictures as picture messages (MMS), follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Gallery.
    3. Tap the image you want to send.
    4. Tap Send via at bottom-left.
    5. Tap Messaging.
    6. At Enter Recipient, enter the recipient’s phone number or name, or tap the Contacts icon to select a recipient from your contacts.
    7. Tap the body of the message and enter the text of your message.
    8. Tap Send.

     

    Send picture – Take new

    To take and send picture messages (MMS), follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap Messaging.
    2. Tap the New message icon.
    3. Tap the Attach icon.
    4. Tap Take picture.
    5. Frame the subject.
    6. Tap the silver Shutter icon to take the photo.
    7. Tap Save.
    8. At Enter recipient, enter the recipient’s phone number or name, or tap the Contacts icon to select a recipient from your contacts.
    9. Tap the body of the message and enter the text of your message.
    10. Tap Send.

     

    Send video – Saved

    To send saved videos as video messages (MMS), follow these steps:

    Note: Videos shot in high resolution may be too large in file size to send via messaging. Therefore, prior to shooting a video and with the Camera application open, tap the Settings icon (gear), tap Recording mode, and then tap Limit for MMS.

    1. From any Home screen, tap Messaging.
    2. Tap the New message icon.
    3. Tap the Attach icon.
    4. Tap Video.
    5. Tap to select the video you want to send.
    6. At Enter recipient, enter the recipient’s phone number or name, or tap the Contacts icon to select a recipient from your contacts.
    7. Tap the body of the message and enter the text of your message.
    8. Tap Send.

     

    Send video – Take new

    To take and send video messages (MMS), follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap Messaging.
    2. Tap the New message icon.
    3. Tap the Attach icon.
    4. Tap Record video.
    5. Note: Your phone automatically adjusts the Camcorder shooting mode to ‘Limit for MMS” and this setting cannot be changed.
    6. Tap the red Record icon to begin recording.
    7. Note: The progressing bar chart shows you how much memory is still available for the recording.
    8. Tap the blinking red Stop icon to stop recording.
    9. Tap Save.
    10. At Enter recipient, enter the recipient’s phone number or name, or tap the Contacts icon to select a recipient from your contacts.
    11. Tap the body of the message and enter the text of your message.
    12. Tap Send.

     

    Voice Notes – Delete

    To delete Voice Notes, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Voice recorder.
    3. Touch and hold on the desired recording.
    4. Tap Delete.
    5. Tap OK.

     

    Voice Notes – Record / save

    Voice Notes are audio clips you can send as multimedia messages (MMS). They allow you to send a voice message without calling.

    To record Voice Notes, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Voice recorder.
    3. Tap the round Record button to begin recording.
    4. Tap the square Stop button to stop recording.
    5. Note: The Voice Note automatically saves in the Recordings file. If desired, touch and hold on the recording and tap Rename to change the recording name.

     

    Voice Notes – Send

    Voice Notes are audio clips you can send as multimedia messages (MMS). They allow you to send a voice message without calling.

    To send Voice Notes, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Voice recorder.
    3. Touch and hold on the desired recording.
    4. Tap Share.
    5. Tap Messaging.
    6. At Enter recipient, enter the recipient’s phone number or name, or tap the Contacts icon to select a recipient from your contacts.
    7. Tap the body of the message and enter the text of your message.
    8. Tap Send.

     

    Record a new file and send

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Messaging.
    3. Tap the New message icon.
    4. Tap the Attach icon.
    5. Tap Record audio.
    6. Tap the round Record button to begin recording.
    7. Tap the square Stop button to stop recording.
    8. At Enter recipient, enter the recipient’s phone number or name, or tap the Contacts icon to select a recipient from your contacts.
    9. Tap the body of the message and enter the text of your message.
    10. Tap Send.

    SMS (text messaging)

    To view the SMS service center number, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap Messaging.
    2. Tap the Menu key.
    3. Tap Settings.
    4. View the Message center number.

     

    Delete message

    To delete text messages (SMS), follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap Messaging.
    2. Tap the message thread.
    3. Note: To delete the whole thread, touch and hold on the thread, then tap Delete thread.
    4. Touch and hold the message that you want to delete.
    5. Tap Delete message.
    6. Tap OK.

     

    Read message

    To read text messages (SMS), follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap Messaging.
    2. View the message.

     

    OR

    1. Tap the message thread
    2. View the message inside the thread.

     

    Send message

    To write and send text messages (SMS), follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap Messaging.
    2. Tap the New message icon.
    3. At Enter recipient, enter the contact’s name or tap the Contacts icon to select a name in your contact list.
    4. Enter your message.
    5. Tap Send.

    Social Networking – Basic settings

    Available widgets

    To learn about available widgets, refer to the following:

    You can use the Social Hub widget to monitor your social networking accounts on a Home screen and post status updates. To add the Social Hub widget, follow these steps:

    Add the Social Hub Widget

    1. Navigate to the desired Home screen with enough room to hold the Social Hub widget.
    2. Touch and hold on the screen.
    3. Tap Widgets.
    4. Swipe left or right to the Social Hub widget.
    5. Tap the Social Hub widget.

     

    Add accounts

    To add social networking accounts to widgets, follow these steps:

    Note: To add the first account using the widget, navigate to the widget and tap Add account.  After the first social media account, you cannot add a social networking account to the widget by directly using the widget. Therefore, follow these steps to add more accounts:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Accounts and sync.
    4. Tap Add account.
    5. Tap the desired social networking account.
    6. Follow the prompts to log in to the account.
    7. Note: See ‘View Accounts’ to control which social media accounts display in the widget.

     

    Delete accounts

    We’re sorry, but this feature is not available on your device.

    Note: You cannot delete social media accounts using the Social Hub widget.

     

    Update your status

    To update the status on widgets, follow these steps:

    1. Navigate to the Home page with the Social Hub widget.
    2. Tap the What’s on your mind field.
    3. Enter your status update.
    4. If desired, tap Photo to attach a photo.
    5. Tap the desired social media account icon to select or clear the check box and include or remove the status update for the respective social media account.
    6. Tap Update.

     

    View accounts

    Note: You must use the Social Hub application to control which social media accounts display in the Social Hub widget.

    To view feeds of social networking accounts in the Social Hub widget, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Social Hub.
    3. If necessary, tap the Feeds tab.
    4. Tap the account selection box at bottom-right of the Messages tab.
    5. Tap All feeds to view all social media accounts in the widget

     

    OR

    1. Tap one social media to be viewed in the widget.
    2. Navigate to the widget.
    3. The selected social media account(s) are now viewable in the widget.

    Social Networking – Facebook

    Alerts

    To check alerts on Facebook, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Social Hub.
    3. If necessary, tap the Feeds tab.
    4. If necessary, tap the account selection box at bottom-right of the Messages tab and then tap Facebook.
    5. Tap the Menu key.
    6. Tap Notifications.
    7. Note: If necessary, tap the Menu key and then tap Refresh.

     

    View Facebook Feeds

    To view page comments on Facebook, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Social Hub.
    3. If necessary, tap the Feeds tab.
    4. If necessary, tap the account selection box at bottom-right of the Messages tab and then tap Facebook.
    5. View Facebook feeds.

    Sync Facebook Calendar and Messages

    To sync the Facebook calendar and messages, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Accounts and sync.
    4. Tap the desired Facebook account.
    5. Tap to select the Sync Message check box.
    6. Tap to select the Calendar check box.
    7. Tap Sync now.

     

     

    Inbox

    To check your inbox on Facebook, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Social Hub.
    3. If necessary, tap the Messages tab.
    4. If necessary, tap the account selection box at bottom-right of the Messages tab and then tap Facebook.
    5. View your Facebook messages.

     

    Log in / out

    To log in to Facebook, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Accounts and sync.
    4. Tap Add account.
    5. Tap Facebook.
    6. If prompted, read the Terms, then tap I accept all the terms above to select the check box.
    7. Tap Agree.
    8. Tap Next.
    9. Enter your email address.
    10. Tap the Password field and enter your password.
    11. Tap Log In.
    12. Note: If desired, tap either Sync Gallery or Sync calendar to clear the check box and cancel syncing.
    13. Tap Done.  

     

    To log out of Facebook, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Accounts and sync.
    4. Tap your Facebook account listing.
    5. Tap Remove account.
    6. Tap Remove account again.

    Social Networking – Twitter

    Log in / out

    To log in to Twitter, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Accounts and sync.
    4. Tap Add account.
    5. Tap Twitter.
    6. If prompted, read the Terms, then tap I accept all the terms above to select the check box.
    7. If necessary, tap Agree.
    8. Tap Next.
    9. Enter your email address.
    10. Tap the Password field and enter your password.
    11. Tap Log In.
    12. Note: If desired, tap Sync message to clear the check box and disable the syncing of Twitter messages to the Social Hub application.
    13. Tap Done.  

     

    To log out of Twitter, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Accounts and sync.
    4. Tap your Twitter account listing.
    5. Tap Remove account.
    6. Tap Remove account again.

     

    Leave Tweet message

    To update a Twitter alert by leaving a Tweet message, follow these steps:

    2. Tap Social Hub.
    3. If necessary, tap the Feeds tab.
    4. If necessary, tap the account selection box at bottom-right of the Messages tab and then tap Twitter.

    Setup

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Social Hub.
    3. Tap Set up now.
    4. Tap one of the following account options:
      • Twitter
      • Facebook
      • LinkedIn
    5. Note: Adding an email account first simply opens the Email application. Therefore, tapping Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync or Email will fail to set up the Social Hub application.
    6. Tap I accept all the terms above to select the check box.
    7. Tap Agree.
    8. Tap Next.
    9. Enter your email address.
    10. Tap the Password field and enter your password.
    11. Tap Log in.
    12. If available, tap to select the check box next to data you want to synchronize. Otherwise, tap to clear the check box and cancel syncing.
    13. Tap Done.

     

    Add Account

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Social Hub.
    3. Tap the Menu key.
    4. Tap Accounts.
    5. Tap Add account.
    6. Tap one of the following account options:
      • Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
      • Email
      • Twitter
      • Facebook
      • LinkedIn
    7. Enter your email and password and follow any additional prompts.

     

    Remove Account
    To remove an account from the Social Hub application, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Social Hub.
    3. Tap the Menu key.
    4. Tap Accounts.
    5. Tap the Menu key.
    6. Tap Delete.
    7. Tap the desired account and select the check box. 
    8. Important: Removing an email account also removes it from the entire phone. Therefore, only remove an email account if you want to remove it from the Email application as well. 
    9. Tap Delete.

     

    Update status
    To update your status using Social Hub for all available or selected social media accounts, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Social Hub.
    3. If necessary, tap the account selection box at bottom-right of the Messages tab and then tap All feeds.
    4. Tap the Menu key.
    5. Tap Status update.
    6. Enter your status update.
    7. Tap to select or clear the check box for each social media account to include or not include the status update.
    8. If desired, tap Photo to add a photo.
    9. Tap Update.

    Change Text entry and choose input mode options

    There are multiple methods to enter text into text fields.

     

    Text entry modes

    To switch between text entry modes, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Language and input.
    4. To adjust the keyboard type, tap Default and tap one of the following options:
      • Samsung keyboard
      • Swype
    5. To adjust settings for the Swype keyboard, tap the Settings icon across from Swype and tap to adjust the desired settings.
    6. To adjust settings for the Samsung Keyboard, tap the Settings icon across from Samsung keyboard.

     

    Tap to change the following settings after tapping the Samsung keyboard settings icon:

    1. Tap XT9 to select or clear the check box and enable or disable predictive text mode.
    2. Tap XT9 advanced settings to adjust the advanced settings of predictive text mode.
    3. Tap Portrait keyboard types.
    4. Tap one of the following keyboard options for the Samsung Keyboard:
      • Qwerty
      • 3x4 keyboard
    5. Tap Input language to select a language.
    6. Tap to adjust any other desired settings.
    7. Note: Tap Reset all settings to restore all original keyboard settings.

     

    Text entry for each input mode

    Entering text using Swype mode
    Note: To use Swype mode, the Swype keyboard must be enabled.

    To enter text using Swype mode:

    1. Drag your finger from the first letter to the second letter of a word and continue dragging to each letter until you reach the end of the word.
    2. Lift your finger from the screen.
    3. If prompted, tap the word from the displayed list and tap the space bar key.

     

    Entering text using Handwriting-to-text mode
    To enter text using Handwriting mode:

    1. Enable the Samsung keyboard.
    2. Tap the Handwriting-to-text  key.
    3. Enter text by using the S Pen or your finger to draw the desired letters, numbers, and symbols.
    4. Tap the key to return to the keyboard.

     

    Entering text using multi-tap mode
    To enter text using multi-tap mode:

    Tap the key containing the desired letter one or more times until the letter appears on the screen.

    OR

    1. If XT9 mode is enabled, tap the key containing each desired letter of the word.
    2. For example, to type ‘baby,’ tap the abc key, abc key, abc key, then the wxyz key.
    3. Note: The desired word should auto-fill.
    4. To type the number assigned to the key, touch and hold on the key.

     

    Entering text using predictive text mode
    To enter text using predictive text mode:

    1. Tap each key containing the letter of the desired word.
    2. If necessary, above the keyboard, tap a suggested word that matches the desired word.
    3. Tap the space bar key and continue.

     

    Entering text using traditional mode
    To enter text using traditional mode:

    1. Note: Traditional mode can be used with both the Swype and Samsung (Qwerty) keyboards.
    2. Tap each letter, number, or symbol of the desired text.
    3. Tap the Delete key to erase letters.

     

    Copy, cut, and paste

    To cut, copy, or paste text in a text field or message, follow these steps:

    1. Touch and hold on the text to be copied until the blue highlight bars appear.
    2. Touch and drag each highlight bar to highlight the text as desired.
    3. Tap the Copy icon (overlapping sheets of paper)  or the Cut icon (scissors).
    4. Tap or navigate the cursor to the desired paste location
    5. If necessary, tap the blue arrow icon.
    6. Tap Paste.

     

    Delete text

    To delete or erase text from a text field or message, follow these steps:

    1. While in a text field, place the cursor next to the text that you want to delete.
    2. Tap the Delete key on the on-screen keyboard.
    3. To rapidly delete text, touch and hold the Delete icon.
    4. To delete large sections of text, touch and hold on the text until the blue highlight bars appear.
    5. Highlight the text by touching and dragging the blue highlight bars.
    6. Tap the Delete key.

     

    Enter symbols and numbers

    To insert punctuation, numbers, and symbols while entering text on the device, follow these steps:

    Swype Keyboard

    1. From the open keyboard, tap the 123 +!= key to access the number and symbols keyboard.
    2. To view more symbols, tap the additional symbols  key. 
    3. Tap the ABC key to return to the letters keyboard.

    Samsung Keyboard (3x4 keyboard enabled)

    1. From the open keyboard, tap the 123 key to view numbers and access symbols.
    2. Tap the ?#+ key to view symbols.
    3. Tap the Left or Right Arrows of the 1/8 key to view more symbols.
    4. Tap the abc key to return to the letters keyboard.

     

    Samsung keyboard (Qwerty keyboard enabled)

    1. From the open keyboard, tap the ?#+ key to access the numbers keyboard and some symbols.
    2. Tap the 1/3, 2/3, and 3/3 keys to view more symbols.
    3. Tap the abc key to return to the letter keyboard. 

     

    On-screen keyboard settings

    To adjust on-screen keyboard settings, follow these steps:

    Samsung keyboard

    1. When the Samsung Keyboard is open, tap the Settings key (gear) on the keyboard.
    2. Tap to adjust the On-screen keyboard settings as desired.
    3. When finished, tap the Back key until you return to the open keyboard.

     

    Swype keyboard

    1. When the Swype Keyboard is open, touch and hold on the  key to open the Swype settings.
    2. Tap to adjust the On-screen keyboard settings as desired.
    3. When finished, tap the Back key until you return to the open keyboard.

    Text to speech

    Settings

    To change the text-to-speech settings, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Language and input.
    4. Tap text-to-speech output.
    5. Tap to select the desired TTS engine:
      • Google Text-to-speech Engine
      • Samsung TTS
    6. Tap Speech rate to select the speech rate.
    7. To adjust the Samsung TTS settings, tap the Settings icon next to Samsung TTS.
    8. To adjust the Google Text-to-speech Engine settings, tap the Settings icon next to Google Text-to-speech Engine.

     

    Set up and turn on

    The text-to-speech feature allows applications to speak a string of text. To set up voice data for speech synthesis, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Language and input.
    4. Tap text-to-speech output.
    5. Tap Driving mode to select the check box and enable.
    6. Tap Driving mode settings.
    7. Tap the following settings to select the check box and enable or clear check box and disable:
      • Incoming call
      • Message
      • New emails
      • New voicemail
      • Alarm
      • Schedule
      • Unlock screen

     

    Turn on / off text-to-speech using Voice talk
    To turn driving mode on / off using the Voice talk application, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap Applications.
    2. Tap Voice talk.
    3. Tap the Menu key.
    4. Tap one of the following options:
      • Driving mode off (to turn off text-to-speech)
      • Driving mode on (to turn on text-to-speech)
