T-Mobile Connection Manager how tos

Learn how to use the T-Mobile Connection Manager. This manager is used with the T-Mobile Rocket 4G.

 

 

Steps

Connect to T-Mobile Mobile Internet

To connect to T-Mobile Mobile Internet, use the following steps:

 

  1. Insert the laptop stick into a USB port on your computer.
  2. Click the the Connect button.

Install the T-Mobile Connection Manager for Microsoft Windows

To install the Connection Manager on your computer, follow these steps:

 

  1. Insert the laptop stick into a USB port on your computer.
    Note: If your computer does not begin installing the Connection Manager automatically, go to My Computer, right-click webConnect Mg and click AutoRun.exe.
  2. The T-Mobile Connection Manager Wizard will open.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the Connection Manager.
  4. After the Connection Manger is installed, click Finish to exit the wizard.
  5. The Connection Manager will open and connect to the T-Mobile network.
    Note: The connection manager auto-connects when opened unless this option is disabled within the menu.
  6. Open a Web browser and activate your laptop stick.
    Important:
    You must complete all Activation steps before you can connect to the Internet using your laptop stick.

 

 

Install the T-Mobile Connection Manager for Mac OS X

To install the T-Mobile Connection Manager, follow these steps:

 

  1. Insert your laptop stick in the USB port of your computer.
  2. Click webConnect Mg.
  3. Click Mac.
  4. Click T-Mobile Connection Manager.mpkg.
  5. The installation wizard opens.
  6. Follow instructions on the installation wizard to install.

 

 

Unblock PIN (PUK code)

In the event the laptop stick becomes locked, the user has the ability to re-enable the PIN mechanism by entering a Personal Unblocking Key (PUK). If the PIN is locked, the user will see the following dialog box where they will have the opportunity to reset the PIN by entering a combination of the PUK and the new PIN.

 

To unblock the PIN, follow these steps:

 

  1. Enter the PUK and new PIN code.
  2. Click Submit.

 

 

Read text messages

Text messaging is limited to incoming account notifications from T-Mobile. When you receive a new message, the Message Center icon will change color. Text messages will only be delivered when you are connected to the T-Mobile network.

 

To read a text message, follow these steps:

 

  1. Insert the laptop stick into a USB port on your computer. The Connection Manager will open automatically.
  2. Click the Message Center envelope to view messages.

 

 

Delete text messages

To delete a text message (SMS), follow these steps:

 

  1. Insert the laptop stick into a USB port on your computer.
  2. The Connection Manager will open automatically.
  3. Click the Message Center envelope to view your messages.
  4. Scroll to and click the message you want to delete.
  5. Click Delete.

 

 

Change your settings

To access and adjust settings, follow these steps:

 

  1. Confirm the laptop stick into a USB port on your computer.
  2. Open the Connection Manager.
  3. Click Menu > Settings.
  4. Select from the following options:
    • Auto Connection
      When the Connection Manager is launched with Auto Connection enabled, the laptop stick will automatically connect to the T-Mobile network. Auto Connection is turned on by default. Click the check box to turn off or on.
    • Connection
      Connection allows you to add, view, and delete custom networks and custom network connection settings. Connection does not allow you to change T-Mobile network settings.
    • Security PIN
      When Security PIN is enabled, the Connection Manager requires you to input the four-digit security PIN number before the laptop stick can connect to the T-Mobile network. Security PIN is turned off by default. Click the check box to turn off or on.

 

 

Uninstall the Connection Manager on Microsoft Windows XP

To uninstall the Connection Manager, follow these steps:

 

  1. Click Start.
  2. Select Control Panel.
  3. Click Add or Remove Programs.
    Note: It may take a minute for the list of installed applications to populate.
  4. Scroll down and click T-Mobile Connection Manager.
  5. Click the Remove button.
    Notes:
    • If prompted to at any time, remove the laptop stick from the computer.
    • If prompted to Save Settings, select No.

 

 

Uninstall the Connection Manager on Microsoft Windows Vista & 7

To uninstall the Connection Manager, follow these steps:

 

  1. Click Start.
  2. Select Control Panel.
  3. Click Uninstall a Program (under Programs).
    Note: It may take a minute for the list of installed applications to populate.
  4. Right click T-Mobile Connection Manager and select Uninstall.
    Note: If prompted to Save Settings, select No.

 

 

Uninstall the T-Mobile Connection Manager on Mac OS X

To uninstall the T-Mobile Connection Manager, follow these steps:

 

  1. Navigate to Finder > User Name > Applications.
  2. Open the T-Mobile folder
  3. Double-click Uninstall T-Mobile Connection Manager.
  4. Follow the prompts.

 

 

View firmware version

To view the firmware version, follow these steps:

 

  1. Insert the laptop stick into a USB port on your computer.
  2. The Connection Manager will open automatically.
  3. Click Menu > Help > About.

 

 

View mobile number

To view the 10-digit phone number for your laptop stick, follow these steps:

 

  1. Insert the laptop stick into a USB port on your computer.
  2. The Connection Manager will open automatically.
  3. Click Menu > Phone Number.
