How To's

Switch between Gmail accounts

The option to use multiple Gmail accounts to purchase and download  content is available in the Play Store / Android Market.

  1. Access the Play Store / Android Market.
  2. Click the Menu button on the device.
  3. Click Accounts.
  4. Select the desired Gmail account to be used to download the  content.

 

Purchase an Application or Game

The Play Store / Android Market has the option to purchase Applications and Games using one of two  payment methods.

 
  1. Launch Play Store / Android  Market.
  2. Click on either the Apps or Games button
  3. Once you have located the item you wish to purchase, click on  the item.
  4. Click the Blue  Price Box.

    Note: If the  item is free, the Blue Price Box will read Free.

  5. Click Add  Payment Method.
  6. Select one of the two available options.
    • Bill my T-Mobile US Account.
    • Add Card.
  7. Once you have made your payment selection (and entered Credit  Card details if chosen), click Accept  & Buy.
  8. A confirmation screen will display including a link to Terms  & Conditions.
  9. Click Accept to complete the purchase.

 

Purchase a Book

The Play Store / Android Market has  the option to purchase books using a Credit Card.

  1. Launch Play Store / Android  Market.
  2. Click the Books button.
  3. Once you have located the item you wish to purchase, click on the  item.
  4. Click the Blue  Price Box.
    Note: If the  item is free, the Blue Price Box will read Free.
  5. Click Add  Payment Method.
  6. Click Add  Card.
  7. Enter Credit Card details.
  8. Click Accept  & Buy.
  9. A confirmation screen will display including a link to Terms  & Conditions.
  10. Click Accept to complete the purchase.

 

Rent a Movie

The Play Store / Android Market has  the option to rent movies using a Credit Card.

  1. Launch Play Store / Android  Market.
  2. Click the Movies button.
  3. Once you have located the item you wish to purchase, click on the  item.
  4. Click the Blue  Price Box.
  5. Note: Rental Period information is displayed on the screen.

  6. Click Add  Payment Method.
  7. Click Add  Card.
  8. Enter Credit Card details.
  9. Click Accept  & Buy.
  10. A confirmation screen will display including a link to Terms  & Conditions.
  11. Click Accept to complete the purchase.

 

Within the Play Store / Android Market, T-Mobile  continues to recommend applications. These recommended applications can be  found in the T-Mobile section.

  1. Launch Play Store / Android  Market.
  2. Click the Apps button.
  3. Drag the screen up to allow content on the lower screen to  populate.
  4. Click T-Mobile.

 

Search for Applications, Games, Books and Movies

The Play Store / Android Market has  additional options to search for Apps, Games, Books and Movies.

  1. Launch Play Store / Android  Market.
  2. Click the Magnifying  Glass Icon in the upper right hand corner.
  3. Enter the item you wish to find.
  4. Click Go.
  5. Note: You may also go into a content type (Apps, Games, Books or Movies) and  search by Category or use the Magnifying Glass Icon.

 

How to see My Applications 

The Play Store / Android Market has  the option to use multiple Gmail accounts to purchase and download  content.

 
  1. Launch Play Store / Android  Market.
  2. Click the device Menu button.
  3. Click My  Apps.
  4. Note: If you  have multiple Google accounts, only the items purchased with the Google Account  currently signed in will be visible. See, Switch Between Gmail Accounts (above)  for how to see the other purchased items.

 

Upload Google Music

Customers must have certain software  installed on their PC to properly use Google Music.

  1. Refer to Google Music for  additional details and links to needed items.

 

Listen to Google Music

The Google Music Player  application must be installed on your device to listen to your music. Refer to Google Music player  Application.

 

Troubleshooting an issue with Play Store / Android Market

The Play Store / Android Market is a  third-party application. To report an issue with Play Store / Android Market, see www.google.com/support/androidmarket.

 
  1. Click the Contact Us With Questions or Issues.
  2. Click Android Apps.
  3. Click Known Issues.
  4. Click Let Us Know at the bottom of the page.

Help

T-Mobile will assist with Basic Troubleshooting and some Advanced Troubleshooting for issues with the Play Store / Android Market. If an application downloaded from the Play Store / Android Market is T-Mobile Branded or Pre-Loaded on your phone, search for additional troubleshooting steps for the application, if available, in the Applications Space.

 

Basic Troubleshooting

Important: Complete these steps before proceeding to specific issues.

  • Recreate the issue
    • Access Play Store / Android Market on your device.
    • Attempt to perform the function that is not  working following the documented Common Procedures and note any error messages.
    • If you continue to receive errors, try to  perform another function within the Play Store / Android Market and note the results.
  • Test general web  access
  • Close all Applications  & Restart the device
    • Restart your device or close all applications
    • Remove the battery from the device.
    • Replace the battery and restart the device.

 

Advanced Troubleshooting 

  • If the issue is not related to a sign-in error, escalations need to be referred directly to Google.

 

Troubleshooting Sign In Errors

Google has two types of verification available for every account. If Two-Way Verification is active, attempts to sign on through any device other than a computer will result in a "Wrong Password or Username " error message and will not sign you in.

Unable to Bill a purchase to T-Mobile Bill

The Play Store / Android Market does support Carrier Billing, however each Developer maintains their own Carrier Billing Authorization. Follow the steps below to determine where the issue is.

  1. Confirm the billing account does not have any of the following restrictions:
    • Family Allowances
    • Content Blocking
    • Web Guard
  2. Launch Play Store / Android Market
  3. Attempt to Carrier Bill a known capable item
    • Tip: Fruit Ninja is a well known Carrier Billing supported item
    • IMPORTANT: T-Mobile is not authorized to issue refunds for Play Store / Android Market purchases. Ensure you do not go beyond Step 5 listed above in the Common Procedure: Purchase an Application or Game.
  4. If Bill my T-Mobile USA Account is not a payment option, contact the Developer as they do not support Carrier Billing.
  5. If Bill my T-Mobile USA Account is a payment option, contact T-Mobile Customer Care to have the issue investigated.
