    How to accept end user license agreements

     

    Before you can use the device the first time or after a master reset, you must accept the end user license agreements. To read and accept end user license agreements, follow these steps:

     

    1. Turn on the device for the first time. It prompts you to read several agreements to accept:
      • NAVTEQ: Provider of mapping content
      • DMTI: Provider of postal code information
      • NAVTEQ Traffic: Provider of traffic information
      • Premium Content: end user license agreement for the Garmin Connected Services
      • Garmin: Garmin end user license agreement
      • Connected Services Feedback (optional): Allows Garmin to collect speed, direction, and location information. This could be used to monitor things like traffic around the country. You can opt out, and it does not affect your applications.

    How to perform a master reset

     

    A hard reset restores the original factory settings and may erase all downloaded content, including ringtones, images, programs, and contacts stored in the internal memory. It does not erase data stored on the SIM card or memory card (if available). To perform a hard reset, follow these steps:

     

    1. Back up all necessary data and synchronize files. See: Prepare for a master reset and back up data on Android
      • Verify that pictures are set to save on the memory card. If they are set to save on the device memory, you must move them to a computer or you will lose them.
      • From the Application tray, tap Settings.
      • Press the Menu key.
      • Tap Master Clear.
      • Tap Yes.

        • When the popup asks 'Restore all settings to factory defaults and delete all user data?', tap Delete.
        • When the popup asks 'This action cannot be reversed...Do you want to continue?', tap Delete.
        • Wait as the device restarts and displays the startup screens as it resets.

         

        Master reset using hardware keys

         

        A master reset restores the original factory settings  and can erase all downloaded content, including ringtones, camera images,  contacts stored in the handset memory, and Java™ applications. It does not erase  data stored on the SIM card or memory card (if available). Back up all necessary  data on the device memory before proceeding.

         

        If the device is frozen or not responding, you can hard reset it using the hardware keys instead of the menu. To perform a  hard reset using hardware keys, follow these steps:

         

        1. Back up all necessary data and synchronize  files. See: Prepare for a master reset and back up data on Android
        2. Remove the power cable or the USB cable if the phone is plugged in.
        3. Turn off the phone.      
          • Note: If the phone is unresponsive and does not turn off,  remove the battery and then re-insert it.
        4. Press and hold the Left Navigation key.
          • Note: Make sure you are not pressing the Up or Down keys at the same time.
        5. Press and hold the  Power key. Continue holding both buttons.
        6. Wait as the phone shows the startup screen, and then about 10 seconds later it displays ** WIPE USERDATA ** at the top of the screen. When the phone displays this message, release the buttons.

        7. Wait as the phone stays on the screen for 2 minutes clearing data. It then restarts.

         

        Soft Reset

        To perform a soft reset, follow these steps:

         

        1. Press and hold the Power key on top of the device to turn it off.
        2. When prompted to power off, tap Yes.
        3. Wait as the phone turns off.

        Note: Exchange e-mail must be set up on the phone for this feature to work.

         

        1. On a computer, log in to Exchange webmail through a browser.
        2. Click Options in the upper right corner of the screen.
        3. Click Mobile Devices.
        4. Click Garmin Columbus.
        5. Click Wipe all data from device.
        6. Click Yes. You receive an e-mail when the wipe completes.

         

        Note: Remove the phone from the mobile devices list before setting up Exchange e-mail again. Otherwise, the phone will continue to wipe all information.
