Access the Mobile Hotspot Admin Page

To access your T-Mobile Hotspot Admin page, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon  on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. In the Password field, enter your password.
    • Note: The default password is “admin”.
  4. Click Login.

  5. If you are logging in to the Admin page for the first time, follow these steps:
    1. Read the tip and click Next at bottom-right.

    2. Read the next tip and click Next again.

    3. Enter a new Admin password that you will use to log in to the Admin page.

    4. Press the Enter key.

    5. Enter a new name (SSID) for your Mobile HotSpot.

    6. Press the Enter key.

    7. Secure your network by entering a new password that you will use to connect to your HotSpot. Record your password for future reference.

      • Note: You can click No thanks. I don’t need Wi-Fi Security. However this choice isn’t recommended because your Hotspot network will not be secure.

    8. Press the Enter key.

    9. Your Mobile HotSpot must now reboot. Connect to your Mobile HotSpot again by identifying your new SSID you created in step 9 and entering the password you created (if applicable) in step 11.

    10. On the Admin page, Click Refresh.

 

  • Important: The first time you access the admin page you will be guided through a tutorial that requires you to change the Admin Password, SSID, and Wifi Password.

 

  1. To begin the process you must click Next (located in the lower right corner of the screen).
  2. After all steps have been completed you will be prompted to reconnect to the hotspots new SSID.

  3. After re-connecting to the new SSID with your newly created password you will be able to browse the web.

Mobile Hotspot Settings

Note: It is recommended that you accept default settings and do not change them unless you are an advanced user. If you have problems using your Mobile Hotspot after you change a setting, it is recommended that you reset the device to factory default settings.

 

View summary of Mobile Hotspot settings

Before you change Mobile Hotspot settings, you can view a summary of the most important settings on two screens.

 

To view basic Mobile Hotspot settings, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.    
    • Note: The default administrator password is admin.
  4. Click Configuration.
  5. Click either General or Hotspot Settings and view the settings.

 

Change SSID and Wi-Fi password

To change the SSID and Wi-Fi password, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.
    • Note: The default administrator password is “admin”.
  4. Click Configuration.
  5. Click Hotspot Settings.
  6. Click the Network Name (SSID) field enter the desired SSID.
    • Note: Click Save now if you would only like to change the the SSID.
  7. Under ‘Wi-Fi Security,’ click the Password field and delete the existing password.
  8. Enter the desired Wi-Fi Security Password.
  9. Click Save.
    • Note: After changing your Wi-Fi Security Password, you must reconnect to your Mobile Hotspot.
  10. Read the message explaining that you must reconnect to your HotSpot and then click Save again to confirm.
  11. Record your new SSID, Wi-Fi logon, and administrator passwords, and keep them in a safe place.
    • You will need this information to connect other devices to your Mobile Hotspot’s network and to access your T-Mobile Hotspot Admin page.

 

Change broadband settings

To view wireless information and edit your APN profile, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.    
    • Note: The default administrator password is admin.
  4. Click Configuration.
  5. If necessary, click General.

  6. Click to adjust the following settings:
    • Auto-connect
    • Network radios
    • Data roaming
    • Standby mode
    • Alert settings
    • SIM PIN Settings 
  7. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click Add.

    • Note: If necessary, you can also click Edit to edit an APN profile or Delete to delete an APN profile.
  8. Adjust the following settings:
    • Profile Name
    • APN
    • Authentication
    • User Name
    • Password
  9. Click Save.

 

View wireless information

To view wireless information, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.                    
    • Note: The default administrator password is “admin”.
  4. Click Configuration.

  5. Click General or HotSpot Settings.

  6. View the wireless information.

 

Add additional access point names

To change how the Mobile Hotspot searches for available networks, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.  
    • Note: The default administrator password is admin.
  4. Click Configuration.

  5. If necessary, click General.

  6. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click Add.

  7. Adjust the following settings (further explanation available in the table below):

    • Profile Name

    • APN

    • Authentication

      • None

      • PAP

      • CHAP

    • User Name

    • Password

  8. Click Save.

 

Note: It is recommended that you accept default settings and do not change them unless you are an advanced user. If you have problems using your Mobile Hotspot after you change a setting, it is recommended that you reset the device to factory default settings.Use the following table to help you decide which options to select:

Profile Name

Enter the profile name.

APN

Enter the APN string.

DNS

Select a DNS mode (Manual or Auto).

Note: If ‘Manual DNS’ is selected, then you must fill out the ‘Primary DNS’ and ‘Secondary DNS’ sections.

Authentication

PAP - Password Authentication Protocol (PAP) provides a simple method, without encryption, for the peer to establish its identity by using a two-way handshake.

 

CHAP - Challenge-Handshake Authentication Protocol is used to periodically verify the identity of the peer by using a three-way handshake.

User Name

The user name is used to obtain authentication from the ISP when the connection is established.

Password

The password is used to obtain authentication from the ISP when the connection is established.

 

Change Wi-Fi settings

You can view available wireless devices and their MAC addresses and other settings.

 

To change Wi-Fi settings using the Admin page for these devices, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.
    • Note: The default administrator password is “admin”.
  4. Click Devices.
  5. From the left side of the grey box, click the desired device name.
  6. Click Edit to change the name of the connected device.
  7. Click Block or Pause to block or pause the device.
  8. Click Edit (Data Limit) to edit data limit settings for the device.
  9. Click Edit (Time Limit) to edit time limit settings for the device.
  10. Click Save when finished.

View a list of wireless network devices

To view a list of wireless network devices, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.
    • Note: The default administrator password is admin.
  4. Click Devices.

  5. View available devices listed along the left side of the grey box

 

Check data usage history

To check the history of data usage for a device that connects to your Mobile Hotspot, follow these steps:

 

Note: The data usage viewed here is locally recorded data. It may not reflect billable usage. To ensure accurate usage information, visit My.T-Mobile.com for your current usage.

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.
    • Note: The default administrator password is “admin”.
  4. From the Dashboard screen, view the Usage Bar graph.
  5. Click Devices.
  6. From inside the grey box, click the desired device name and then view data usage information.
  7. To view a historical bar graph of data usage, click Last 12 months.

 

Change basic wireless network settings

To change basic wireless network settings, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.
    • Note: The default administrator password is “admin”.
  4. Click Configuration.

  5. Click Hotspot Settings.

  6. Adjust the following settings:

    • Change password (Admin password)

    • Network mode

    • Network Name (SSID)

    • Broadcast network name (on/off)

    • Wi-Fi Security

    • Encryption

    • Password

    • Channel

    • Enable default data limits

    • Enable default time limits

    • Subnet mask

    • Enable DHCP server (on/off)

    • DHCP Address Range

    • DHCP Lease time (in hours)

  7. Use the following table to help you decide which options to select:

    Option

    Description

    Network Mode

    If all of the wireless devices connect with the Mobile Hotspot in the same transmission mode, performance will be improved by choosing the appropriate wireless mode.

    Network Name (SSID)

    Service Set Identifier (SSID). Enter a string with fewer than 32 characters as the name  for your wireless local area network (WLAN).

    Broadcast Network Name

    Disable or Enable (Default) this function.

    Enable (select the check box) - The device broadcasts the SSID, and  other devices can search and connect to it.

    Disable (clear the check box) - Other devices cannot detect the SSID. Connection  will require manual setup using the SSID and password.

    Channel

    Choose the appropriate channel to optimize the performance and coverage of your wireless network.

  8. Click Save.

Change security settings

To change security settings, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.                    
    • Note: The default administrator password is “admin”.
  4. Click Configuration.
  5. Click Hotspot Settings.
  6. Click the WiFi Security field to open the menu.
    • Note: Choose a security option that will be compatible with all of the devices that will connect to the Mobile Hotspot. The default security mode is WPA, which is the most common security mode for newer devices.
  7. Use the following table to help you select a WiFi Security option:

    Option

    Description

    NONENo security.

    OPEN

    You can authenticate successfully with an SSID, whether you enter a valid password or  leave the password field blank.

    SHARED

    The WLAN clients who have the same WEP key with a wireless gateway can pass the authentication  and access the wireless network.

    WPA

    WPA Pre-Shared Key. Enter the Pre-Shared key as a plain text pass-phrase.

    WPA2

    This is the more secure version of WPA, which includes implementation of the 802.11i standard.

    WPA / WPA2

    Apply both the WPA and WPA2 security protocols.

    • Note: If you select OPEN or SHARED, the ‘Encryption’ field automatically changes to ‘WEP.
  8. Click Save.
    • Note: After clicking Save, you will need to reconnect to your Mobile Hotspot.

Advanced Mobile Hotspot Settings

View software and hardware versions

To view the software and hardware versions, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.
    • Note: The default administrator password is “admin”.
  4. Click Run Diagnostics Tests.

  5. After the test finishes, click View details.

  6. View the Firmware and Hardware.

 

Change your administrator password

Your administrator password is the password you use to access your T-Mobile Hotspot Admin page.

 

To change your administrator password, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.
  4. Note: The default administrator password is “admin”.
  5. Click Configuration.
  6. Click Hotspot Settings.
  7. Under ‘Admin Password,’ click Change Password.
  8. In the Password field, enter your current password.
  9. In the New field, enter your new password.
  10. In the Verify field, enter the new password to confirm.
  11. Click Change.
    • Note: If you forget your administrator password, restore the device to factory default settings by performing the ‘Device Reset using Hardware Keys’ procedure and then log in by using the default password “admin”. Change the default password to a more secure one after you log in.

 

Restore default settings using the Admin page

To restore your device to its default settings using the Admin page, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.
    • Note: The default administrator password is admin.
  4. Click Configuration.
  5. Click Restore to Factory Defaults.
  6. Click Reset settings.
  7. The Mobile Hotspot will restart automatically.

 

View the status of your local area network (LAN)

To change advanced Mobile Hotspot settings, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.                    
    • Note: The default administrator password is admin.
  4. Click Configuration.
  5. Click Hotspot Settings.
  6. View the Network Settings.

 

Change the connection mode

To change whether you connect to the Internet manually or automatically, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.
    • Note: The default administrator password is "admin".
  4. Click Configuration.
  5. Click General.

  6. Locate the white check box under ‘Auto Connect’ and to the left of 'Automatically connect to T-Mobile network when device is powered on'.
  7. Perform one of the following options:                    
    • Auto Connect: Click the white check box to select the check box and enable auto connect.
    • Manual Connect: Click the white check box to clear the check box and disable auto connect.
      • Note: If you select Manual Connect, then you will also have to disconnect from the Internet manually.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Click Save again to confirm.

 

View network detection settings

To view the selection mode that Mobile HotSpot uses to search for available networks, follow these steps:

 

Important:  To select a specific network band, you must first change your Connection settings to Manual Connect under the Configuration > General tab. See: Change the connection mode.

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile HotSpot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile HotSpot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your Administrator password and click Login.
    • Note: The default administrator password is "admin".
  4. Click Configuration.
  5. Click General.
  6. Under ‘Network Radios,’ view which of these three options contains a bullet point to the left of the text:
    • Best available
    • 4G only
    • 2G only
  7. If desired, click the white check box to the left of ‘Show alerts when network coverage changes’ to select the check box and enable.
  8. If desired, click the white check box to the left of ‘Show alerts when roaming’ to select the check box and enable.
  9. Click Save.
  10. Click Save again to confirm.

Security

Create a SIM PIN code

A SIM PIN code provides a secondary level of security for the Mobile Hotspot, and helps to prevent unauthorized use of your subscription.

 

To create a SIM PIN code, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.
    • Note: The default administrator password is “admin”.
  4. Click Configuration.

  5. Click General.

  6. Click Enable PIN Lock to select the check box and enable.

  7. In the PIN Code field, enter your default SIM PIN code and click Enable PIN.

    • Note: Your default SIM PIN code is ‘1234.’

    • Note: If you enter the incorrect SIM PIN code three times, your SIM Card will become locked and you will need your PUK Code. If this happens, contact Customer Care to obtain your PUK Code.

  8. Click OK.

    • Note: You have now created your SIM PIN. However, because ‘1234’ is a predictable SIM PIN code, follow the next 6 steps to change your SIM PIN code to a unique code.

  9. Click Change PIN.

  10. Enter your current SIM PIN (most likely ‘1234’) into the PIN Code field.

  11. Enter your new, unique SIM PIN into the New PIN field.

  12. Enter your new, unique SIM PIN again into the Verify PIN field.

  13. Click Change PIN.

  14. Click OK.

 

Change the SIM PIN code

To change the SIM PIN code, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.                    
    • Note: The default administrator password is “admin”.
  4. Click Configuration.

  5. Click General.

  6. Click Change PIN.

  7. Enter your current SIM PIN code into the PIN Code field.

  8. Enter your new SIM PIN code into the New PIN field.

  9. Enter your new SIM PIN code again into the Verify PIN field.

  10. Click Change PIN.

  11. Click OK.

 

Unblock PIN (PUK code)

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.
    • Note: The default administrator password is “admin”.
  4. From the Dashboard screen, click Unlock SIM.
  5. Click Enter PUK.
  6. Enter your PUK code in the PUK Code field.
    • Note: If necessary, contact T-Mobile technical support to obtain your PUK code.
  7. Enter your new SIM PIN code that you create two times into the New PIN and Verify PIN fields.
  8. Click Unlock.

To locate your Mobile Hotspot phone number, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.
    • Note: The default administrator password is admin.
  4. If necessary, click Dashboard.
  5. Under ‘Support,’ view the Mobile # field.

Install the Admin page companion

The Admin page companion is a smaller version of the Admin page and does not load in your computer’s web browser when opened. To Install the Admin page companion, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.
    • Note: The default administrator password is admin.
  4. Click Download app.
  5. Follow any additional prompts.
