Backlight

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Scroll to and select the Settings icon.

Review the following information before you install the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software:

 

  • Intel-compatible 486 or higher computer that is compliant with USB 1.1 or later
  • USB port
  • CD drive
  • Microsoft Windows 98, ME, 2000, or XP
    Note: If you use Windows 98 (not Windows 98 Second Edition), you must download an update from http://www.microsoft.com/com/dcom/dcom98/dcom1_3.asp for the USB driver to operate correctly.

 

To install the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software, follow these steps:

 

Important: Do not connect your device to your computer before or during the installation of the BlackBerry Desktop Software on your computer. You can connect your device to your computer AFTER you have finished the installation.

 

  1. Insert the BlackBerry Desktop Software installation CD into your CD drive.
  2. The 'Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for BlackBerry Desktop Software 4.7' window appears on your computer screen.
  3. Click Next

Airplane mode turns off the wireless radio. This allows you to use programs while travelling on an airplane, but not make or receive calls. To turn on airplane mode, follow these steps:

  2. Scroll to and select the Manage Connections icon. Scroll to Mobile Network. Select or clear the check box to turn on or turn off airplane mode.

WAP push messages (browser messages) allow you to download ringtones, wallpaper, and other content. To turn on or turn off WAP push messages, follow these steps:

  2. Scroll to and select the Settings icon.
  3. Scroll to and select the Options icon.
  4. Scroll to and select Advanced Options.
  5. Scroll to and select SIM Card.
  6. Press the Menu key.
  7. Select Enable Security.
  8. Enter the PIN code. The default code is 1234.
  9. Press the trackball.
  10. Press the Menu key.
  11. Scroll to and select Change PIN Code.
  12. Enter the old PIN code.
  13. Enter the new PIN code.
  14. Press the trackball.
  15. Enter the new PIN code again.
  16. Press the trackball.

How to check for BlackBerry e-mail service book

To verify that the device has the correct settings to send and receive e-mail, follow these steps:

    Automatic update of time and date (NITZ) checks for the correct time while the device turns on. To turn on or turn off NITZ, follow these steps:

     

    Note: When you enter a different time zone and turn on your device, it automatically updates to the new time. This feature is network-dependent and may not be available in all areas.

     

  • From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  • Scroll to and select the Settings icon.
  • Scroll to and select the Options icon.
  • Scroll to and select Date/Time.
  • Scroll to and select Date/Time Source.
  • Scroll to and select one of the following options: 
    • Network to update the time with the wireless network that you are currently registered on.
    • BlackBerry to update the time with the BlackBerry network.
    • Off to disable auto-update of date and time. You need to manually set the date and time.
  • Press the Menu key.
  • Select Save.
