    Call basics

     

    Answer calls

     

    To answer a call, follow these steps:

     

    • To answer a call when the screen is awake, tap Accept.
    • To answer a call when the screen is asleep, touch and hold the bottom of the screen and slide up to answer.

     

     

    Reject calls

     

    • To reject a call when the screen is awake, tap Reject.
    • To reject a call when the screen is asleep, tap the red Phone icon and drag left.

     

     

    Reject a call with message

     

    Screen awake

     

    1. Tap Send SMS.
    2. Scroll to and tap the desired message or tap New message, enter your message and tap Send.

     

    Screen asleep

     

    1. Tap the Messagingicon and drag right.
    2. Scroll to and tap the desired message or tap New message, enter your message and tap Send.
      • Note: Using Reject call with messagesends the caller to voicemail and sends a text message to the caller.

     

     

    Reject calls with Auto Reject

     

    To reject calls on your Auto Reject list, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Call settings.
    4. Tap Call reject.
    5. Tap Call rejectagain.
    6. Select from the following options:
      • Off
      • Reject on list
      • Reject all calls

     

     

    Add numbers to Auto Reject list

     

    To add numbers to the Auto reject list, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Call settings.
    4. Tap Call reject.
    5. Tap Call reject to turn on, if necessary.
    6. Tap Call reject list.
    7. Tap the Menu key.
    8. Tap New reject entry.
    9. Select from the following options:
      • Contacts
        1. Tap to select the check box next to the contact(s) you want to add to the list.
        2. Tap Select (#).
      • Call logs
        • Tap the number you want to reject.
      • New number
        1. Enter the number you want to reject.
        2. Tap OK.
          • Note: You will receive a notification when a call has been rejected.

     

     

    Remove numbers from Auto Reject list

     

    To temporarily remove numbers from the auto reject list, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Call settings.
    4. Tap Call reject.
    5. Tap Call reject list.
    6. Tap Delete next to the number you want to remove.

     

     

    Dial

     

     

    Use the keyboard

     

    To make a call using the keyboard, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Phone icon.
    2. Tap the Dialer tab, if necessary.
    3. Begin entering the name or phone number of the person you want to call.
    4. Tap the name or number if it appears; otherwise, finish entering the phone number.
    5. Tap the green Phone icon to call.

     

     

    Use the phone book

     

    To make a call from the phone book, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Phone icon.
    2. Tap the Contacts tab, if necessary.
    3. Scroll to the desired contact or tap Search to search your contacts list.
    4. Tap the desired contact.
    5. Tap the green Phone icon to call.

     

     

    Use speed dial

     

    To make a call using speed dial, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the green Phone icon.
    2. Touch and hold the number assigned to the contact you want to call.

     

     

    End call

     

    To end a call, follow these steps:

     

    To end a call, tap End.

     

     

    Hold call

     

    To put a call on hold, tap Hold.

     

    To resume the call, tap Unhold.

     

     

    Mute and un-mute call

     

    To turn on mute during a call, follow these steps:

     

    Mute

     

    While on a call, tap Mute. A blue indicator light turns on.

     

    Un-mute

     

    Tap Mute again. The blue indicator light turns off.

     

     

    Mute incoming ring

     

    To mute an incoming call's ring, follow these steps:

     

    Press the Volume key up or down.

     

     

    Use speakerphone

     

    To turn the speakerphone on or off, follow these steps:

     

    Turn on

     

    While on a call, tap Speaker. A blue indicator light turns on.

     

    Turn off

     

    Tap Speaker again. The blue indicator light turns off.

    Caller ID

     

    Incoming ID - Turn on /off

     

    Incoming caller ID shows information about incoming calls on the display screen. It automatically shows the caller's name and phone number if the contact is in the phone book. When the information is not in the phone book, it only displays the caller's number.

     

     

    Outgoing ID - Enable / Restrict

     

    To enable or disable outgoing caller ID, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Call settings.
    4. Tap Additional settings.
    5. Tap Caller ID.
    6. Tap one of the following options:
      • Network default
      • Hide number
      • Show number

     

     

    Picture ID - Set

     

    You can assign picture ID to contacts stored in the phone book, but not to those stored on the SIM card.

     

    To assign a picture to a contact, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Contacts tab.
    2. Search or scroll to and tap the desired contact.
    3. Tap the Menu key.
    4. Tap Edit contact.
    5. Tap the Photo icon.
    6. Tap one of the following options:
      • Capture picture
        1. Frame the subject.
        2. Tap the Camera icon to take the photo.
        3. Tap the Paperclip icon.
        4. If desired, touch and slide the box to adjust image area and scale, tap Save.
        5. When finished, tap Save.
      • Pick from Gallery
        1. Locate and tap the image you want to use.
        2. If desired, touch and slide the box to adjust image area and scale.
        3. Tap Save.
        4. When finished, tap Save.
      • Pick from videos
        1. Locate and tap the video you want to use.
        2. When finished, tap Save.

     

     

    Ringer ID - Set

     

    To assign a ringer to a contact, follow these steps:

     

    Note: You cannot assign a Ringer ID to contacts stored on the SIM card or on T-Mobile Contacts Backup.

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Contacts tab.
    2. Tap the desired contact.
    3. Tap the Menu key.
    4. Tap Options.
    5. Tap Ringtone.
    6. Tap to select the ringtone you want to use.
    7. Tap OK.
    8. Tap the Backkey.

    Call forwarding

     

    Cancel call forwarding

     

    To turn off or cancel all call forwarding (including voicemail forwarding), follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Call settings.
    4. Tap Call forwarding.
    5. Tap Always forward.
    6. Tap Disable.

     

     

    Forward all calls (unconditional forwarding)

     

    Call Forwarding Unconditional (CFU) immediately forwards all calls to another phone number without allowing the device to ring.

     

    To activate unconditional call forwarding, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Call settings.
    4. Tap Call forwarding.
    5. Tap Always forward.
    6. Enter the number you want to use for call forwarding.
    7. Tap Enable.

     

     

    Forward some calls (conditional forwarding)

     

    Call Forwarding Conditional (CFC) forwards incoming calls to another phone number if you do not or cannot answer (no reply, busy, unavailable).

     

    To activate conditional call forwarding, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Call settings.
    4. Tap Call forwarding.
    5. Select from the following options:
      • Forward when busy
      • Forward when unanswered
      • Forward when unreachable
    6. Enter the number you would like to use for call forwarding.
    7. Tap Update.

     

     

    Forward calls to voicemail (conditional forwarding)

     

    Voicemail forwarding forwards incoming calls to your voicemail so that callers can leave a message.

     

    To turn on voicemail forwarding, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Call settings.
    4. Tap Call forwarding.
    5. Select from the following options:
      • Forward when busy
      • Forward when unanswered
      • Forward when unreachable
    6. Enter +18056377249 to forward calls to voicemail.
    7. Tap Update.

    Call settings

     

    DTMF tones

     

    Your device can send a numbers to the network as dual tone multi-frequency (DTMF) tones. DTMF tones are used to communicate with automated systems that require you to type a number such as a code, password, or credit card number. Your phone uses DTMF tones but you cannot turn off or change them.

     

     

    Fixed dialing

     

    T-Mobile does not support fixed dialing.

     

    To disable fixed dialing if you have enabled it, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Call settings.
    4. Tap Fixed Dialing Numbers.
    5. Tap Disable FDN.
    6. Enter the PIN2 code. The default PIN2 code is 5678.
    7. Tap OK.

     

     

    Phone line selection - Not supported

     

    We’re sorry, but this feature is not available on this phone.

     

     

    Volume - Call

     

    Press the Volume key up or down to raise or lower the in-call volume.

     

     

    Volume - Ring

     

    Press the Volume key up or down to raise or lower the Ringer volume.

    Note: Press the Volume key all the way down to activate Silent mode.

    Call timer

     

    Reset timer

     

    Call timers approximate the amount of time you have spent on phone calls. They do not accurately show how much time T-Mobile bills. T-Mobile charges for connected calls and rounds up to the nearest minute. Call timers count all calls in seconds, regardless of whether or not they connect.

     

    To reset call timers, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Phone icon.
    2. Tap Call log.
    3. Tap the Menu key.
    4. Tap Clear.
    5. Tap the check box next to the timer(s) you want to clear.
    6. Tap Clear.
    7. Tap OK.

     

     

    View timer

     

    Call timers approximate the amount of time you have spent on phone calls. They do not accurately show how much time T-Mobile bills. T-Mobile charges for connected calls and rounds up to the nearest minute. Call timers count all calls in seconds, regardless of whether or not they connect.

     

    To view call timers, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Phone icon.
    2. Tap Call log.
    3. Tap the desired phone number to view the call timer.
    4. Tap the desired call to view details.

    Call waiting

     

    Turn on / off

     

    To turn call waiting off or on, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Call settings.
    4. Tap Additional settings.
    5. Tap to select or clear the Call waiting check box to enable or disable.

     

     

    Use

     

    To use call waiting when you hear the tone alerting you to a new incoming call, follow these steps:

     

    1. Tap Accept.
    2. Tap the holding call to switch between calls.
    3. Tap Merge calls to join the calls.

    Conference calling

     

    Have private conversation

     

    To speak privately with one caller in a conference call and put the other callers on hold, follow these steps:

     

    1. While on a conference call, tap Manage.
    2. Tap the green Swap icon next to the caller you would like to have a private conversation with.
    3. Tap Merge calls to resume the conference call.
      • Note: Private conversations are only possible between you and callers that you have added to a conference call.

     

     

    Start conference call

     

    To add additional callers to the conference, follow these steps:

     

    1. While on a call, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Add call.
    3. Enter the phone number or select from Contacts or Call log.
    4. Tap the green Phone icon to initiate the call.
    5. Tap Merge calls to join the calls

    Voice commands

     

    Assign a voice name to a contact - Not supported

    Dial using voice name

     

    To use voice-activated dialing to call a contact, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Scroll to and tap Voice Dialer.
    3. Speak your command.
    4. Example: Speak the phrase, “Call John Smith.”
    5. Confirm your selection. If you said a name that has more than one match in Contacts, or if you stored more than one number for the contact, the phone will prompt you to make the appropriate selection.

    Voicemail

     

    Call voicemail

     

    To retrieve voicemail messages using the keyboard, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Phone icon.
    2. Tap and hold 1 or dial 123 and tap the green Phone icon to call.
    3. To retrieve voicemail messages via the device menu, follow these steps:
      1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
      2. Tap Visual Voicemail.
      3. Tap the Menu key.
      4. Tap Call Voicemail.

     

     

    View voicemail number

     

    To view the voicemail server number on your device, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Call settings.
    4. Tap Voicemail settings.
    5. View the voicemail number under Voice mail number.

     

     

    Visual Voicemail - Access

     

    To access Visual Voicemail, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Visual Voicemail.

     

     

    Visual Voicemail - Add contact

     

    To add a contact from a Visual Voicemail message, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Visual Voicemail.
    3. Touch and hold a message from the person you want to add.
    4. Tap Add To Contacts.
    5. Select from the following options:
      • Create new contact
      • Update contact
    6. Enter the contact’s first name.
    7. Enter additional information if desired.
    8. Tap Save when finished.

     

     

    Visual Voicemail - Change greeting

     

    To change the Visual Voicemail greeting, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Visual Voicemail.
    3. Tap the Greetings tab.
    4. Tap the greeting your want to use or tap Record a new greeting.

     

     

    Visual Voicemail - Change password

     

    To change the Visual Voicemail password, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Visual Voicemail.
    3. Tap the Greetings tab.
    4. Tap the Menu key.
    5. Tap Settings.
    6. Tap Change PIN.
    7. At Enter Current PIN, enter the current PIN.
      Note: The default PIN is the last four digits of your phone number.
    8. Enter and confirm the new PIN.
    9. Tap OK.

     

     

    Visual Voicemail - Delete voicemail

     

    To delete a Visual Voicemail message, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Visual Voicemail.
    3. Tap the message you would like to delete.
    4. Tap the blue X icon.
    5. Tap OK.

     

    OR

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Visual Voicemail.
    3. Tap the Menu key.
    4. Tap Delete voicemails.
    5. Tap to select the check box next to the voicemail(s) you want to delete.
    6. Tap Delete.

     

     

    Visual Voicemail - Listen to new message

     

    To listen to a Visual Voicemail message, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Visual Voicemail.
    3. Tap the voicemail message you want to hear.
    4. Tap the blue Play icon to listen to the message.

     

    Listen to or view multiple messages

     

    1. When multiple messages are received, a notification icon will appear on the phone’s Status bar. Tap and drag the Status bar down to view alerts.
    2. Tap New visual voicemail.
    3. Tap the message you want to play.
    4. Tap the Play icon to listen to the message.

     

     

    Visual Voicemail - Reply

     

    To reply to a Visual Voicemail message, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Visual Voicemail.
    3. Tap the desired message.
    4. Tap the blue Phone icon to return the call.

     

     

    Visual Voicemail - Save

     

    To save a Visual Voicemail message, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Visual Voicemail.
    3. Scroll to and touch and hold the voicemail message you want to save.
    4. Tap Copy to.
    5. At File name, enter a file name.
    6. Tap Save.

     

     

    Visual Voicemail - Set up

     

    To set up Visual Voicemail, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Visual Voicemail.
    3. Tap Next.
    4. Tap Done.

     

     

    Visual Voicemail - Synchronize

     

    To manually synchronize Visual Voicemail messages (new messages are downloaded and deleted messages are removed), follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Visual Voicemail.
    3. Tap the Menu key.
    4. Tap Sync Now.

     

     

    Visual Voicemail - Turn on / turn off

     

    To turn Visual Voicemail on or off, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Visual Voicemail.
    3. Tap Greetings.
    4. Tap the Menu key.
    5. Tap Settings.
    6. Tap to select or clear the Enable Visual Voicemail check box to enable or disable Visual Voicemail.

     

     

    Visual Voicemail - Turn on / off roaming

     

    To turn on Visual Voicemail roaming, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
    2. Tap Visual Voicemail.
    3. Tap Greetings.
    4. Tap the Menu key.
    5. Tap Settings.
    6. Tap to select or clear the International Roaming check box to enable or disable International Roaming.
