Visual Voicemail may show a force close error. This can happen when there are saved voicemails that become corrupted.

What to expect
  • Unfortunately, due to the limits of software support, a software update will not be available to change the Visual Voicemail app.
  • Press and hold 1 on the Dialer screen to check your voicemail, if you have problems with visual voicemail.

 

Resolution steps

To resolve these errors, follow these steps:

 

  1. Uninstall all third-party Visual Voicemail applications. Visual Voicemail is imbedded on the device and does not need to download any apps.
  2. On the Dialer, press and hold 1 to check your voicemail inbox.
  3. Delete all messages in your inbox. Some messages can become corrupt (often after switching phones) and can cause this force close error.
  4. Clear data on Visual Voicemail Application with the following steps:
    1. From Home screen press Menu.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Applications.
    4. Tap Manage applications.
    5. Tap All.
    6. Tap Visual Voicemail.
    7. Tap Clear Data.
  5. Restart the device.
  6. Test Visual Voicemail
    1. From the Home screen, tap the Phone icon.
    2. Tap Voicemail.
    3. Tap Enable.
    4. Have customer listen to voicemails available.
  7. If the issue continues, then dial your voicemail and reset the password.
  8. Test Visual Voicemail with above steps.
  9. If issue continues complete a The specified item was not found..
  10. Open the Play Store, and update any applications that need to be updated.
  11. Test Visual Voicemail.
  12. If problems continue, press and hold 1 on the Dialer screen to check your voicemail.
