General FAQs



What is MobileLife Contacts?

  • MobileLife Contacts is a free service that stores your phone's address book to the T-Mobile MobileLife server, which is accessible through MobileLife on My T-Mobile.


  • MobileLife Contacts gives T-Mobile customers peace of mind knowing their important information will be available to them if their phone is damaged, lost, or stolen, and allows them to avoid the hassle of manually re-entering all of their contact information into a new phone if they upgrade to a new phone.
  • MobileLife Contacts is available to postpaid and monthly 4G customers with a MobileLife Contacts capable device.




Is there a fee to use Contacts?

MobileLife Contacts is a free service that we offer to our customers to provide them with the peace of mind that their content is in a safe location.



How does MobileLife Contacts work on my phone?

  • Your address book is automatically backed up every time you make a change to it.
  • Every time you add or edit a contact in your phone's address book, the same change will be made on the servers without you needing to do anything. If you delete a contact on your phone, you can restore or permanently delete it from the Trash Can on You can continue to use your phone while the changes are being synchronized.

What devices are compatible with MobileLife Contacts?

To determine if you have the MobileLife Contacts feature with your phone, perform the following steps:


Android phones

  1. Select Settings.
  2. Go to the Settings menu and locate Accounts & Sync.
  3. Locate the T-Mobile Contacts Backup option and select it.
  4. Follow the steps to complete syncing your device.



  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Accounts & Sync.
  4. Tap Add Account in the upper right hand corner
  5. Tap T-Mobile Contacts from the list
  6. Enter your T-Mobile phone number and password and tap Save.
    • If the T-Mobile Contacts account is listed under “Manage Accounts”
  7. Tap T-Mobile Contacts
  8. Tap Account Settings
  9. Enter your T-Mobile phone number and password and tap Save.


All other devices

The steps will vary for other devices.  Use the Common Procedures or User Manual to determine the appropriate steps to determine your device compatibility.




How do I access my saved contacts on the Web?

To manage your contacts on the Web, go to and log in with your mobile phone number and password. Then, go to MobileLife, and then Contacts.

What information can I store on MobileLife Contacts?

You can store all your contacts' details including Name, Phone Numbers, E-mail Addresses, Home and Office Addresses, Instant Messenger ID’s, and more.

Is my contact information secure?

Your contact information is maintained on a secure server. We will not use your contacts for any marketing purposes. If you choose to cancel your T-Mobile account, your contacts will be deleted from the server.




Will T-Mobile use my contact information?

Your contact information is backed-up for your benefit only. T-Mobile will not use your contacts for marketing or other purposes without your consent.






How often does my phone sync with MobileLife Contacts?

  • Your phone will automatically sync with Contacts every time you make a change to your phone's address book.
  • You can continue to use your phone while the sync is in progress.




Can I import contacts from my non-T-Mobile phone?

No, not with MobileLife Contacts.



Can I import contacts from Outlook?

Yes, you can import your contacts from Outlook, Outlook Express, or any .vcf file.

Can I export my contacts from MobileLife Contacts?

No, you cannot export your contacts from Contacts at this time.




How many contacts can I save with MobileLife Contacts?

  • You can save up to 2000 contacts on the T-Mobile server.
  • Your phone may be capable of storing fewer contacts.
  • Please check your phone manual for this information.




Can I delete all my contacts off the server?

You can delete your contacts from your phone or from You may also restore your deleted contacts by going to Deleted contacts under Groups on If you empty your Deleted contacts folder, the deleted contacts will be removed from our servers.
