Internal memory (RAM)

Manage memory

To manage the internal memory, follow these steps:

 

Restart device regularly

  1. Restart your phone at least once per day.
  2. Press and hold the Power key.
  3. Tap Restart.

 

Remove widgets

  1. From the desired Home screen, touch and hold on the widget.
  2. Drag the widget over Remove
  3. Release your finger.

 

Replace a Live wallpaper

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'PERSONAL,' then tap Personalize.
  4. Tap Home screen wallaper.
  5. Select wallpaper from:
    • HTC wallapers
    • Live wallpapers
    • Gallery
    • Computer photos
    • Photos
  6. Follow the prompts to set a new wallpaper that replaces the current Live wallpaper.         

 

Remove unused Home screens

  1. From any Home screen, touch and hold on the screen.
  2. When the 'Home Screen' pop-up message appears, tap Manage home screen pages.
  3. Tap the Home screen to be deleted. It will show as selected.
  4. Tap the REMOVE button in the lower right corner.


Manage applications

  1. Manage your applications to keep your device running smoothly.
  2. Research and monitor new applications that you install
  3. Read Play Store application reviews before installing. Not all applications run smoothly on phones.
  4. Read customer reviews before downloading an application to see if it has a history of not working properly.
  5. If your device starts having problems after installing an application, consider uninstalling the application (See below: 'Uninstall third-party applications').

 

Keep applications updated

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Play Store.
  3. Tap the Menu on the top left of the screen.
  4. Tap Settings on the bottom of the Menu drop down.
  5. Uninstall third-party applications (see 'Uninstall App')
  6. Clear application cache and data (see 'Clear app cache and data')

 

Clear recent applications

  1. From any screen, press and hold the Home key.
  2. To close an individual recent application, touch an application from the list and drag it to the right.
  3. To close all of your recent applications, tap the Clear all icon.

 

Third Party Apps

  1. Never install a third-party Task Manager or Battery Manager.
  2. These applications interfere with how Android works.

 

 

Task manager

A task manager can view running apps and close them. To use the task manager, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, press and hold the Home key.
  2. Tap the Task Manager  icon.
  3. Choose from these options:
    • Close active applications
      • Tap the Active applications tab.
      • Tap End next to desired app.
      • Tap End all to close all active apps.
    • Uninstall applications
      • Tap the Downloaded tab.
      • Tap Uninstall next to desired app.
    • Clear RAM
      • Save any necessary data.
      • Tap the RAM tab.
      • Tap Clear memory.
    • Launch by default
      • Tap the Clear defaults tab.
      • A list of apps that launch by default appears.
      • Tap Clear next to an app to remove it.
    • View available memory
      • Tap the Storage tab.
      • View the available value.

Internal storage (ROM)

Manage storage

To manage the internal storage space, follow these steps:

 

Clear storage regularly

  1. Clear storage at least once per week.
  2. Check the available internal device storage (see 'View free storage space' below). It must be over 150 MB for your device.
  3. The Android system cannot work properly if the internal device storage is below 150 MB.
  4. If under 150 MB, use the following tips to clear more storage:
    • Delete unnecessary text messages (SMS) and picture messages (MMS).
    • Transfer pictures and media to a computer, and remove it from the phone memory.
    • Clear the browser cache, cookies, or history.
    • Clear Facebook app cache.
    • Manage applications. See section below.
    • Delete the call logs.

 

Adjust memory storage settings

  1. Set text and multimedia message limits to delete messages automatically
  2. The default is 200 text and 20 picture messages.
  3. From any Home screen, tap Messages.
  4. Tap the Menu key.
  5. Tap Settings.
  6. Tap Text message limit
  7. Set desired limit.
  8. Tap OK.
  9. Tap Multimedia message limit
  10. Set desired limit.
  11. Tap OK.

Change Gmail synchronization setting to every three days

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Gmail.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. Tap your email address.
  6. Tap Days of mail to sync.
  7. Swipe down until 3 is selected.
  8. Tap OK.

 

Manage applications

If device has problems after installing an app, consider uninstalling it.

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'PHONE,' then tap Apps.
  4. Swipe to the All screen or the Downloaded screen.
  5. Sort apps from largest users of ROM to lowest:
    1. Tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap Sort by size.
    3. The apps using the most ROM appear at the top.
  6. Tap the desired application to be uninstalled. Uninstalling an app deletes the app.
  7. Tap Uninstall.
  8. Tap OK.

View free storage space

To view the amount of free internal storage, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'PHONE,' then tap Storage.
  4. Under 'PHONE STORAGE,' view the Available value.

SD card

Format SD card

Formatting the SD card deletes all data on it. You may wish to format the SD card if you want to delete the files, if files or apps on the SD card are not working, or if the SD card is not working.

 

To format the SD card while inserted in the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'SD CARD,' then tap Format SD card.
  4. Review the warning message.
  5. Tap ERASE SD CARD.
  6. Review the second warning message.
  7. Tap ERASE EVERYTHING.

 

 

Insert / unmount / remove SD card

To insert or remove the SD card, follow these steps:

 

Insert

  1. Hold the phone face up with the top panel facing you.
  2. Insert the tip of the tray eject tool (or a small bent paperclip) into the tray eject hole next to the microSD tray slot.

  1. Push the tip all the way into the hole until the microSD card tray ejects.
  2. Pull out the microSD card tray.
  3. Pace the microSD card (contacts facing down) into the tray.
  4. Insert the microSD card tray back into the slot.

 


Unmount

When you need to remove the microSD card while the device is powered on, unmount the card first to prevent corrupting or damaging the files in the storage card.

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'PHONE,' then tap Storage.
  4. Scroll to 'SD CARD,' then tap Unmount SD card.
  5. Once the card is unmounted and safe to remove, it will read Mount SD Card.

 

Remove

Mark sure you unmount your microSD card before you remove it.

 

  1. Hold the phone face up with the top panel facing you.
  2. Insert the tip of the tray eject tool (or a small bent paperclip) into the tray eject hole next to the microSD tray slot.

  1. Push the tip all the way into the hole until the microSD card tray ejects.
  2. Pull out the microSD card tray.
  3. Remove the microSD card from the tray.
  4. Insert the microSD card tray back into the slot without the microSD card.

 

 

 

Open or delete files using a computer

To open or delete files on the SD card using a computer, follow these steps:

 

Important: You must use the USB cable that comes with your phone.

 

PC

  1. Connect the USB cord to the phone, then to a computer.
  2. Touch the Status bar and drag down to open the Notification screen.
  3. Tap USB connected.
  4. Tap Connect USB storage.
  5. Cick Open folder to view files
  6. Click OK.
  7. When the Removable Disk window appears:
    1. Click Open folder to view files
    2. Click OK.
  8. Locate the folder that contains files you want to delete.
  9. Once you have located the files, right click and select Delete.
  10. When done, on your phone, tap Disconnect storage from PC.

 

Mac

  1. Connect the USB cord to the phone, then to a computer.
  2. Use the USB cable that comes with the phone for best results.
  3. When you see HTC Sync Manager appear on your MAC, click that icon and follow the additional prompts.

 

 

Open or delete files using the device

To open or delete files on the SD card using the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'PHONE', then tap Storage.
  4. Scroll to 'SD CARD', then tap SD memory card.
  5. Tap Make more space.
  6. Select one of the following
    • Browser
    • Gallery
    • Music
    • Miscellaneous
  7. To the left of each file or folder you want to delete, select the check box.
  8. Tap DELETE.
  9. Tap OK.

 

 

Set default memory storage

By default, the device stores data on the internal storage. To set the default memory storage to another location, follow these steps:

 

Camera

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Camera.
  3. Tap the Menu key
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Select the storage location:
    • SD card
    • Phone storage

 

Voice recorder

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Voice recorder.
  3. Tap the Menu key
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Select default storage location:
    • Phone storage
    • SD card

 

Internet

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  2. Tap Internet.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. Tap Advanced.
  6. Tap Download storage
  7. Select the storage location:
    • Storage card
    • Phone storage

 


Transfer files between computer & SD card

To transfer files and pictures between the computer and SD card, follow these steps:

 

PC

  1. Connect the USB cord to the phone, then to a computer.
  2. Use the USB cable that comes with the phone for best results.
  3. Click Open folder to view files
  4. Click OK.
  5. Locate the file(s) you want to move.
  6. Cut or copy and paste the desired files between your computer and SD card .
  7. Tap Disconnect storage from PC.

 

Mac

  1. Connect the USB cord to the phone, then to a computer.
  2. Use the USB cable that comes with the phone for best results.
  3. When you see HTC Sync Manager appear on your MAC, click that icon and follow the additional prompts.

To transfer files and pictures between the internal storage and SD card, follow these steps:

 

Internal storage to SD card

  1. Connect the USB cord to the phone, then to a computer.
  2. Use the USB cable that comes with the phone for best results.
  3. Click Open folder to view files and click OK.
  4. Locate the file(s) you want to move.
  5. Cut or copy and paste the desired file(s) from the internal storage to the SD card..
  6. Tap Disconnect storage from PC.

 

SD card to internal storage 

  1. Connect the USB cord to the phone, then to a computer.
  2. Use the USB cable that comes with the phone for best results.
  3. Click Open folder to view files and click OK.
  4. Locate the file(s) you want to move.
  5. Cut or copy and paste the desired file(s) from the SD card to the internal storage.
  6. Tap Disconnect storage from PC.

 

 

View free SD card space

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'PHONE,' then tap Storage.
