Choosing a text entry mode
There are multiple methods to enter text into text fields. The phone supports the following modes for entering text:
To switch between text entry modes, refer to the following steps:
| 1. | While composing a message, press and hold the Pound (#) key. |
| 2. | Select from the following options: |
- Number mode: To enter numbers.
- Prediction on: To turn predictive text on or off.
Other methods of entering text include:

Multi-tap mode allows you to enter letters by pressing the key labeled with the letter you want until the correct letter displays. For example, if you want to enter a, you press the 2 key once. If you want to enter b, you press the 2 key twice.

Predictive text or T9® mode allows you to enter words with only one keystroke per letter, and the phone suggests what word you want. For example, to enter the, you press 8, 4, 3. To access T9® mode, select Options and then scroll to and select Prediction on.
- Number mode allows you to enter numbers. Press on the Pound (#) key to turn on Number Mode.

Deleting text
To delete or erase text from a text field or message, perform the following steps:
| 1. | While composing a message, move the cursor to the right of the text you wish to delete. |
| 2. | Select Clear. |
Entering symbols
NOTE: To select symbols from a list, press the Star (*) key to bring up the list of symbols or press it twice to bring up emoticons.

To add a plus (+) sign to a phone number, press the Star (*) key twice. Pressing and holding the 0 key will cause the phone to access t-zones®.
To add a plus (+) sign to a text message, at the text entry screen, press the Star (*) key to display a list of symbols. Scroll to the Plus (+) sign and select Insert.
Inserting the at (@) symbol
In ABC mode, quickly press the 1 key two times.
In T9® mode, press the Star (*) key, scroll to the at (@) symbol, and select Insert.
Inserting the period (.)
In ABC or T9® mode, press the 1 key once.
Inserting the dash (-)
In ABC mode, quickly press the 1 key four times.
In T9® mode, press the Star (*) key, scroll to the Dash (-) symbol, and select Insert.
Copying, cutting, and pasting text
To copy, cut, and paste text, perform the following steps:
| 1. | While in a text or picture message, select Options. |
| 2. | Scroll to and select Editing Options. |
| 3. | Select Copy, Copy all, or Cut. |
| 4. | Select Start. |
| 5. | Press the Navigation key right or left to highlight the text you want to copy. |
| 6. | Select Copy or Cut. |
| 7. | Move your curser to where you want to paste the text. |
| 8. | Select Options. |
| 9. | Scroll to and select Editing options. |
| 10. | Scroll to and select Paste. |
