Over the Air (OTA) updates (T-Mobile G1™)
The device automatically updates its software using over-the-air (OTA) updates. You cannot perform a software update manually. When new software is available, the device displays a prompt asking you to update the system.
When you see a prompt for a software update, perform one of the following actions:
- To update the software, tap Update now. The update may take 5-10 minutes to download. After updating, the device restarts automatically.
- To wait and update at a later time, tap Update later. You normally receive another reminder 6-24 hours later.
There are two kinds of software updates:
- Simple patch: This only patches software bugs and features, and it does not reset the device.
- Full software update: The full software update resets the device and removes settings or applications you have stored. The update warning will warn you if information will be erased. If you lose any applications from Android Market, you can download them again at no cost.
