
GPS (BlackBerry® Curve™ 8900™)
IMPORTANT:
- By default, location aiding is active to improve the performance of the GPS technology.
- When location aiding is turned on, your device connects to a central server periodically, which can increase your data service charges. To avoid these charges, you can turn off location aiding, but it might take longer for your device to get your GPS location.
Activating or deactivating GPS
To activate or deactivate GPS, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the Home screen, press the Menu key. |
| 2. | Scroll to and select the Settings icon. |
| 3. | Scroll to and select the Options icon. |
| 4. | Scroll to and select Advanced Options. |
| 5. | Scroll to and select GPS. |
| 6. | Scroll to and select GPS Services. |
| 7. | Scroll to and select Location On or Location Off. |
Getting directions
To get directions, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the Home screen, press the Menu key. |
| 2. | Scroll to and select the Applications icon. |
| 3. | Scroll to and select the Maps icon. |
| 5. | Scroll to and select Get Directions. |
| 6. | Under Select Start Location, scroll to and select Enter Address. |
NOTE: You can also scroll to and select From Contacts to select the contact.
| 8. | Scroll to and select Search. |
| 9. | Under Select End Location, scroll to and select Enter Address. |
| 11. | Scroll to and select Search. |
| 12. | Scroll to and select one of the following: |

Fastest Route
-
Shortest Route
-
Avoid Highways
-
Avoid Tolls
| 13. | Scroll to and select Search. |
NOTE: The driving directions display.
| 14. | To see a map of the route, select View On Map. |
Finding your location

- GPS troubleshooting tips:
- If you are outdoors, move away from buildings and expose your device to the open sky.
- If you are indoors, move toward a window.
- If you are using GPS technology for the first time, wait a short period of time for the device to find your GPS location.

To enable or disable location aiding, perform the following steps:

| 2. | Scroll to and select the Settings icon. |
| 3. | Scroll to and select the Options icon. |
| 4. | Scroll to and select Advanced Options. |
| 5. | Scroll to and select GPS. |
| 6. | Scroll to and select Location Aiding. |
| 7. | Scroll to and select Enabled, Disabled, or Disabled While Roaming. |
Finding your Latitude/Longitude coordinates
To find your Latitude/Longitude coordinates, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the Home screen, press the Menu key. |
| 2. | Scroll to and select the Settings icon. |
| 3. | Scroll to and select the Options icon. |
| 4. | Scroll to and select Advanced Options. |
| 5. | Scroll to and select GPS. |
| 7. | Scroll to and select Refresh GPS. |
| 8. | The longitude and latitude coordinates for your location will appear. |
Mapping your location using the BlackBerry® maps application
To map your location using the BlackBerry® maps application, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the Home screen, press the Menu key. |
| 2. | Scroll to and select the Applications icon. |
| 6. | Scroll to and select Where I Am. |
