Adding from available networks

To add from available networks, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, press the Menu key.
2. Scroll to the Manage Connections icon and press the trackball.
3. Scroll to Set Up Wi-Fi Network and press the trackball.
4. Scroll to Next and press the trackball.
5. Select Scan for Networks.
NOTE: If Wi-Fi is off, scroll to Turn Wi-Fi on and press the trackball. Scroll to the desired network and press the trackball.
6. If required, enter a key or password.
7. Scroll to Connect and press the trackball.
NOTE: Many public Wi-Fi networks require a log in. If required, scroll to Wi-Fi Hotspot Login and press the trackball. This will launch a Web page to log in to the Wi-Fi provider's network.
8. Scroll to Finish and press the trackball.

Adding a network manually

To add a network manually, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, press the Menu key.
2. Scroll to the Manage Connections icon and press the trackball.
3. Scroll to Set Up Wi-Fi Network and press the trackball.
4. Scroll to Next and press the trackball.
5. Scroll to Manually Add Network and press the trackball.
6. Enter the network name (SSID).
7. Scroll to Add and press the trackball.
8. Scroll to Security Type and press the trackball.
9. Scroll to the required security type and press the trackball.
10. If required, enter the requested security information.
11. Scroll to Connect and press the trackball.

Disabling a network

To disable a network, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, press the Menu key.
2. Scroll to the Manage Connections icon and press the trackball.
3. Scroll to Wi-Fi Options and press the trackball.
4. Scroll to Wi-Fi Options and press the trackball.
5. Scroll to the profile you want to disable.
6. Press the Menu key.
7. Scroll to Disable and press the trackball.

Editing network details

To edit network details, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, press the Menu key.
2. Scroll to the Manage Connections icon and press the trackball.
3. Scroll to Wi-Fi Options and press the trackball.
4. Scroll to Wi-Fi Selection Mode and press the trackball.
5. Scroll to Manual and press the trackball.
6. Scroll to the saved Wi-Fi profile.
7. Press the Menu key.
8. Scroll to Edit and press the trackball.
9. Edit the connection information.
10. Press the Menu key, and then select Save.

Getting a security key

NOTE: The Get Security Key option is only for T-Mobile wireless routers. Select the Get Security Key option to acquire the security key from the router.
To get a security key, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, press the Menu key.
2. Scroll to the Manage Connections icon and press the trackball.
3. Scroll to Set Up Wi-Fi Network and press the trackball.
4. Scroll to Next and press the trackball.
5. Scroll to Get Security Key and press the trackball.
6. Scroll to Next and press the trackball.
7. On your wireless router, press and release the secure button.
8. On your device, select Done.

Logging in to HotSpot

To log in to HotSpot, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, press the Menu key.
2. Scroll to the Manage Connections icon and press the trackball.
3. Scroll to Set Up Wi-Fi Network and press the trackball.
4. Scroll to Next and press the trackball.
5. Select Scan for Networks.
NOTE: If Wi-Fi is off, scroll to Turn Wi-Fi on and press the trackball.
6. Scroll to the desired HotSpot and press the trackball.
7. If required, enter a key or password.
8. Scroll to Connect and press the trackball.
NOTE: Many public HotSpots require a log in. If required, scroll to Wi-Fi Hotspot Login and press the trackball. This will launch a Web page to log in to the Wi-Fi provider's network.

Locating the MAC address

To locate the MAC address, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, press the Menu key.
2. Scroll to the Settings icon and press the trackball.
3. Scroll to the Options icon and press the trackball.
4. Scroll to Status and press the trackball to view the WLAN MAC address.

Scanning for available networks

To scan for available networks, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, press the Menu key.
2. Scroll to the Manage Connections icon and press the trackball.
3. Scroll to Set Up Wi-Fi Network and press the trackball.
4. Scroll to Next and press the trackball.
5. Select Scan for Networks.
NOTE: If Wi-Fi is off, scroll to Turn Wi-Fi on and press the trackball.
6. Scroll to the desired network and press the trackball.
7. If required, enter a key or password.
8. Scroll to Connect and press the trackball.

Turning Wi-Fi on and off

To turn WI-FI on and off, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, press the Menu key.
2. Scroll to the Manage Connections icon and press the trackball.
3. Scroll to Wi-Fi and press the trackball to select or clear the check box.

You are connected to UMA for phone calls but do not have any connection to the BlackBerry network. You can use the phone and send and receive text messages and picture messages using UMA instead of a mobile network connection. You will not be able to send or receive e-mail messages.

If you also have the or icons, you can send and receive e-mail messages, though they do not go over the Wi-Fi network.
