Adding a new network
Add from available networks
To add from available networks, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the main screen, press the Menu key. |
| 2. | Scroll to the Set Up Wi-Fi |
| 3. | Select Scan for Networks. |
NOTE: If Wi-Fi is not already on, scroll to Turn Wi-Fi on and press the trackball.
| 4. | Scroll to the desired network and press the trackball. |
| 5. | If required, type a key or password. |
| 6. | If desired, scroll to Profile Name and type a new profile name. |
| 7. | Scroll to Next and press the trackball. |
NOTE: If this is a public network, you may be prompted to log in. Select Wi-Fi Hotspot Login and press the trackball. This will launch a Web page to log in to the Wi-Fi provider's network.
| 8. | Select Finish. |
Adding manually
To add manually, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the main screen, press the Menu key. |
| 2. | Scroll to the Set Up Wi-Fi |
| 3. | Scroll to Next and press the trackball. |
| 4. | Select Manually Add Network. |
| 5. | Type the network name (SSID). |
| 6. | Scroll to Add and press the trackball. |
| 7. | At Security Type, press the trackball. |
| 8. | Scroll to and select the security type. |
| 9. | If required, type the information for the network security. |
| 10. | Scroll to Connect and press the trackball. |
| 11. | If desired, scroll to Profile Name and type a new profile name. |
| 12. | Scroll to Next and press the trackball. |
| 13. | Select Finish. |
Editing a saved network
Deleting a saved network
To delete a saved network, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the main screen, press the Menu key. |
| 2. | Scroll to the Manage Connections |
| 3. | Scroll to Wi-Fi Options and press the trackball. |
| 4. | Scroll to the profile you want to delete and press the Delete key. |
| 5. | Select Delete to confirm. |
Editing network details
To edit network details, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the main screen, press the Menu key. |
| 2. | Scroll to the Manage Connections |
| 3. | Scroll to Wi-Fi Options and press the trackball. |
| 4. | Scroll to Wi-Fi Selection Mode and press the trackball. |
| 5. | Scroll to Manual and press the trackball. |
| 6. | Scroll to the saved Wi-Fi profile. |
| 7. | Press the Menu key. |
| 8. | Scroll to Edit and press the trackball. |
| 9. | Edit the connection information. |
| 10. | Press the Menu key and select Save. |
Getting the security key
NOTE: The Get Security Key option is only for T-Mobile wireless routers. Select the Get Security Key option to acquire the security key from the router.
To get the security key, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the main screen, press the Menu key. |
| 2. | Scroll to the Set Up Wi-Fi |
| 3. | Scroll to Next and press the trackball. |
| 4. | Scroll to Get Security Key and press the trackball. |
| 5. | Select Next. |
| 6. | On your wireless router, press and release the secure button. |
| 7. | On your handheld, select Done. |
Locating the MAC address
To locate the MAC address, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the main screen, press the Menu key. |
| 2. | Scroll to the Options |
| 3. | Scroll to Status and press the trackball to view the WLAN MAC address. |
Turning on and off Wi-Fi
To turn on and off Wi-Fi, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the main screen, press the Menu key. |
| 2. | Scroll to the Manage Connections |
| 3. | Scroll to Wi-Fi and press the trackball to select the check box. |
Wireless coverage indicators
The device is capable of connecting via Wi-Fi for data as well as UMA for data and voice. When connected to Wi-Fi and no UMA icon appears you can send and receive e-mail messages and use the browser. When connected to Wi-Fi and the UMA icon appears, you can use the phone, send and receive e-mail messages, PIN messages, SMS text messages, and MMS messages, and use the browser.
When using Wi-Fi for voice calls (UMA icon appears) the device will seamlessly alternate between Wi-Fi and GSM connections using the network with the best signal strength.
You may be able to access additional Wi-Fi networks using the built-in browser. After selecting to connect to a network, you may be prompted to log in. Select Wi-Fi Hotspot Login which will take you to the Wi-Fi provider's Web page. Follow their instructions to accept terms and conditions or pay for use of the network.

![]() | You are connected to UMA for phone calls but do not have any connection to the BlackBerry® network. You can use the phone and send and receive text messages and picture messages using UMA instead of a mobile network connection. You will not be able to send or receive e-mail messages. |
