AOL® Instant Messenger Service (AIM®) (BlackBerry 8820™)
Instant messaging general information
To use Yahoo!® Messenger, ICQ®, AIM®, Windows Live®, or Google Talk™ you will need to download and install the desired instant messaging client(s).
To download and install an instant messaging client, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the main screen, press the Menu key. |
| 2. | Scroll to the Browser icon and press the trackball. |
| 3. | Press the Menukey. |
| 4. | Scroll to Bookmarks and press the trackball. |
| 5. | Scroll to Links and press the trackball. |
| 6. | Scroll to Install Instant Messaging and press the trackball. |
| 7. | Scroll to Download <IM Client> and press the trackball. |
| 8. | Scroll to Download and press the trackball. |
| 9. | Scroll to I accept and press the trackball. |
| 10. | Scroll to Next and press the trackball. |
AOL® instant messenger service (AIM®)
NOTE: You will need an AIM® account to use instant messaging. To set up an account, go to
mymobile.aol.com/portal/carriers/tmobile.html.

Signing on
To sign on, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the main screen, press the Menukey. |
| 2. | Scroll to the Instant Messaging icon and press the trackball. |
| 3. | Scroll to the AOL Instant Messenger icon and press the trackball. |
| 4. | Type your screen name and password. |
Signing off
To sign off, at
Buddy List®, press the
Menukey, scroll to
Sign Off, and then press the trackball.
Adding a buddy
To add a buddy, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At Buddy List®, press the Menukey. |
| 2. | Scroll to Add Buddy and press the trackball. |
| 4. | Scroll to OK and press the trackball. |
Deleting a buddy
To delete a buddy, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At Buddy List®, scroll to the buddy you want to delete and press the Menukey. |
| 2. | Scroll to Delete Buddy and press the trackball. |
| 3. | Scroll to Delete and press the trackball. |
Sending a message to a buddy
To send a message to a buddy, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At Buddy List®, scroll to the buddy you want to send a message to and press the Menukey. |
| 3. | Type your message and press the trackball. |
Sending a message to an unlisted buddy
To send a message to an unlisted buddy, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At Buddy List®, press the Menukey. |
| 2. | Scroll to Send IM to… and press the trackball. |
| 4. | Scroll to OK and press the trackball. |
| 5. | Type your message and press the trackball. |
Blocking a buddy
To block a buddy, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At Buddy List®, scroll to the buddy you want to block and press the Menukey. |
| 2. | Scroll to Block and press the trackball. |
Setting Away status
To set Away status, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At Buddy List®, press the Menukey. |
| 2. | Scroll to My Status and press the trackball. |
| 3. | Scroll to Away and press the trackball. |
