Installation Wizard error screens (T-Mobile wireless router by Linksys)
The following error screens may appear when you run the Installation Wizard for your wireless router. These screens provide information on what caused the error and on how you may be able to troubleshoot it.
You are not logged in as administrator ›
No Internet connection was detected ›
Wireless connection detected ›
Router not found ›
The administrative password is incorrect ›

The administrative password is incorrect ›
You are not logged in as administrator
The error screen indicates that you are not logged into the router with administrative rights. You must have administrative rights to run the installation CD.

To troubleshoot the error, perform one or both of the following:
- Log out and then log in again, using a username and a password that have administrative rights.
- Switch to a computer that has administrative rights and is connected to the modem, and then attempt to log in, using a username and a password that have administrative rights.
No Internet connection was detected
This error indicates that the installation CD cannot detect an Internet connection on the computer.

To troubleshoot the error, perform the following steps:
| 1. | Confirm that all your cables are plugged in correctly, matching the diagram on the error screen. |
NOTE: Your new router should not be installed yet.
A typical setup has the following cables:
- A cable that connects from the Internet jack on the wall to the modem.
- A cable that connects from the modem to the computer that is running the installation CD.
- A cable that connects the modem and the computer to the power supply.
| 2. | Disable any firewall software. |
| 3. | Power cycle your modem. For more information on power cycling your modem, go to Power cycle your network (T-Mobile wireless router by Linksys). |
| 4. | Verify that you have Internet connectivity on your computer by opening a Web browser and going to a Web page other than the home page. |
Wireless connection detected
This error indicates that you are running the installation CD on a laptop or device that is connected wirelessly to the Internet or that has a wireless card enabled. To run the installation CD successfully, use an Ethernet cable to connect to the Internet.


To troubleshoot the error, perform the following steps:
| 1. | Turn off your computer’s wireless connection. |
| 2. | Use an Ethernet cable to connect the computer directly into the modem or into the Internet connection. |
Router not found
This error indicates that one of the cables is not connected correctly.

To troubleshoot the error, perform one or both of the following:
- Verify that all the cables are completely inserted into the ports.
- Verify that all the Ethernet cables are connected correctly.
The administrative password is incorrect
This error indicates that the administrative password entered is incorrect.

To troubleshoot the error, perform one or both of the following:
- Check your documentation or your records to see if you changed your administrative password.
NOTE: The administrative password is different from the security key or from the passphrase.
- If you do not know the administrative password, reset your router to factory settings. The default administrative password is admin. For more information on resetting your router, go to Reset router to default factory settings (T-Mobile wireless router by Linksys).
