Viewing memory for the phone and memory card
To view memory for the phone and memory card, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the main screen, select Menu. |
| 2. | Scroll to and select Fun & Apps. |
| 4. | Select Options and then select Memory status. |
| 5. | Select either Phone or Memory card to view memory availability. |
Viewing memory for the phone and the SIM card
To view memory for the phone and the SIM card, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the main screen, select Menu. |
| 2. | Scroll to and select Phonebook. |
| 3. | Scroll to and select Settings. |
| 4. | Scroll to and select Memory status. |
| 5. | Select either Phone or SIM card. |
Inserting a memory card
NOTE: The Nokia 5300 comes with a pre-installed removable 1 GB microSD card. This card allows you to store multimedia files, such as video clips, music tracks, sound files, images, messaging data, and to back up information from the phone memory.
NOTE: The memory card will come with songs pre-loaded.
NOTE: Use only microSD cards approved by Nokia for use with this device. Nokia utilizes the approved industry standards for memory cards but not all other brands may function correctly or be fully compatible with this device.
To insert a memory card, perform the following steps:
| 1. | Remove the back cover of the phone. |
| 2. | Insert the card into the microSD card slot with the contact surface facing backwards and press it until it locks into place. |
Removing a memory card
NOTE: Do not remove the memory card in the middle of an operation when the card is being accessed. Removing the card in the middle of an operation may damage the memory card as well as the phone, and the data stored on the card may be corrupted.
To remove a memory card, perform the following steps:
| 1. | Make sure that no application is currently accessing the memory card. |
| 2. | Remove the back cover of the phone. |
| 3. | Press the card slightly in to release the lock and remove from the slot. |

To use the phone to access files, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the main screen, select Menu. |
| 2. | Scroll to and select Fun & Apps. |
| 3. | Scroll to and select Gallery. |
| 4. | Scroll to and select Memory card. |
| 5. | Select a folder on the memory card to access files. |
Using a computer to access files
To use a computer to access files, perform the following steps:
| 1. | Connect the phone to your computer using the USB cable (included in the box). |
| 2. | Select OK to make the connection. |
| 3. | Scroll to and select Data Storage. |
NOTE: Your phone is now connected to your computer as a mass storage memory device (Removable Disk).
| 4. | On your computer, click the Removable Disk drive to access files. |

Using the phone to delete files
To use the phone to delete files, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the main screen, select Menu. |
| 2. | Scroll to and select Fun & Apps. |
| 3. | Scroll to and select Gallery. |
| 4. | Scroll to and select Memory card. |
| 5. | Select the folder on the memory card that contains the files you want to delete. |
| 6. | Scroll to the file or folder. |
| 7. | Select Options and then select Delete. |
| 8. | Select Yes to confirm. |
Using a computer to delete files
To use a computer to delete files, perform the following steps:
| 1. | Connect your phone to the computer using the USB cable. |
| 2. | On the phone, select OK and then select Data storage. |
| 3. | On your computer, locate the files on the Removable Disk drive. |
| 4. | On your keyboard, press Delete. |
| 5. | Click Yes to confirm the deletion of the file. |

Moving files from a computer to a memory card
To move files from a computer to a memory card, perform the following steps:
| 1. | Connect your phone to your computer using the USB cable. |
| 2. | On your phone, select OK and then select Data storage. |
| 3. | On your computer, locate the files that you want to move. |
| 4. | Drag and drop (or copy/paste) to the Removable Disk drive. |
NOTE: There are three sub-folders in the Removable Disk drive: Images, Music, and Video clips.
| 5. | When done, safely disconnect the phone from the computer. |
Moving files from a memory card to the phone
To move files from the memory card to the phone, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the main screen, select Menu. |
| 2. | Scroll to and select Fun & Apps. |
| 3. | Scroll to and select Gallery. |
| 4. | Scroll to and select Memory card. |
| 5. | Select the folder on the memory card that contains the files you want to move. |
| 7. | Select Options and then select Move. |
| 8. | Scroll to the folder you want to move the file to and select Move to. |
Moving files from the phone to a memory card
To move files from the phone to a memory card, perform the following steps:
| 1. | At the main screen, select Menu. |
| 2. | Scroll to and select Fun & Apps. |
| 3. | Scroll to and select Gallery. |
| 4. | Select the folder that contains the files you want to move. |
| 6. | Select Options and then select Move. |
| 7. | At Memory card, select Move to. |
