Making phone calls

Dialing a phone number

To dial a phone number, at the main screen, type the phone number. Press the green Send key to initiate the call.
NOTE: To add a plus (+) sign for international country codes, press and hold 0.

Calling a contact in the phone book

To call a contact in the phone book, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, press Down Navigation key to access the Phonebook.
2. Scroll to the contact.
3. Press the green Send key to initiate the call.

Calling voice mail

To call your voice mail, press and hold the 1 key.

Answering a call

To answer a call, open the phone's flip. Or if the phone's flip is already open, press the green Send key or Accept.

Ending a call

To end a call, close the phone's flip or press the red End key.

Using the speakerphone when a call is in progress

To use the speakerphone when a call is in progress, select Speaker by pressing the Right Soft key.

Putting a call on hold

To put a call on hold, perform the following steps:
1. When a call is in progress, press the Menu key.
2. Select Hold.

Muting a call

To mute a call when a call is in progress, select Mute by pressing the Left Soft key.

Unmuting a call

To unmute a call, press the Left Soft key again.

Adjusting the ear volume

To adjust the ear volume during a call, press the Up and Down Volume buttons on the side of the phone.

Initiating call conferencing

To initiate call conferencing, perform the following steps:
1. Dial the first number and press the green Send key to initiate the call.
2. Once the first call is in progress, press the Menu key.
3. Scroll to and select New Call.
4. Dial the second number and press the green Send key.
5. Once the second call is answered, select Link.

Enabling a private conversation during a conference call

To enable a private conversation during a conference call, perform the following steps:
1. From a conference call, press the Menu key.
2. Scroll to and select Talk to one.
3. Scroll to and select the contact you wish to speak to.

Using call forwarding

Forwarding a call

To forward a call, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, press the Menu key.
2. Scroll to and select Settings.
3. Scroll to and select Call Forward.
4. Scroll to and select Voice Calls.
5. Select Forward.
6. Scroll to and select If Unavailable.
7. Scroll to and select To.
8. Type the number you want calls to forward to.
9. Select Ok.
10. Select Done.

Forwarding all calls unconditionally

To forward all calls unconditionally, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, press the Menu key.
2. Scroll to and select Settings.
3. Scroll to and select Call Forward.
4. Scroll to and select Voice Calls.
5. Select Forward.
6. Scroll to and select All Calls.
7. Scroll to and select To.
8. Type the number you want calls forwarded to.
9. Select Ok.
10. Select Done.

Forwarding calls to voice mail

To forward calls to voice mail, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, press the Menu .
2. Scroll to and select Settings.
3. Scroll to and select Call Forward.
4. Scroll to and select Voice Calls.
5. Select Forward.
6. Scroll to and select If Unavailable or All Calls.
7. Scroll to and select To.
8. Type 1-805-637-7243 (default voice mail number) or another number if applicable.
9. Select Ok.
10. Select Done.

Activating or deactivating call waiting

To activate or deactivate call waiting, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, press the Menu .
2. Scroll to and select Settings.
3. Scroll to and select In-Call Setup.
4. Scroll to and select Call Waiting.
5. Scroll to and select On or Off.

Using call waiting

To use call waiting, perform the following steps:
1. When you are on a call, an alert sound will notify you of an incoming call.
2. Press the Send key to answer the new call.
3. Select SWITCH to switch between calls.
4. Select LINK to link both parties.
5. Press the Menu key and select End Call on Hold to end the call that is on hold.

Using Caller ID

Restricting outgoing Caller ID

To restrict outgoing Caller ID, perform the following steps:
1. From the main screen, press the Menu key.
2. Scroll to and select Settings.
3. Scroll to and select In-Call Setup.
4. Scroll to and select My Caller ID.
5. Select Next Call Only or All Calls.
6. Select Hide ID.
OR
To restrict outgoing Caller ID from your phone book, perform the following steps:
1. Dial or select the number from the phone book.
2. Press the Menu key.
3. Scroll to and select Hide ID.
4. Press the green Send key to initiate the call.

Enabling outgoing Caller ID

To enable outgoing Caller ID, perform the following steps:
1. From the main screen, press the Menu key.
2. Scroll to and select Settings.
3. Scroll to and select In-Call Setup.
4. Scroll to and select My Caller ID.
5. Scroll to All Calls.
6. Select CHANGE.
7. Select Show ID.
OR
To enable outgoing Caller ID from your phone book, perform the following steps:
1. Dial or select the number from the phone book.
2. Press the Menu key.
3. Scroll to and select Show ID.
4. Press the green Send key to initiate the call.

Assigning incoming Caller ID

NOTE: The phone displays the caller’s name if the caller’s information is stored in your phone book. When the Caller ID information is not in your phone book, the phone displays the caller’s number.
To assign incoming Caller ID, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, select Ph. Book.
2. Scroll to the entry name and select View.
3. Select Edit.
4. Scroll to Picture and choose Change.
5. Use the Down Navigation button to choose a picture.
6. Choose Select.

Assigning a ringer and a picture to a new contact

NOTE: You can assign ringer and picture IDs to contacts stored in the phone book on the phone. However, you cannot assign ringer and picture IDs to contacts stored on the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM).
To assign a ringer and a picture to a new contact, perform the following steps:
1. At the main screen, select Ph. Book.
2. Scroll to the entry name and select View.
3. Select Edit.
4. Scroll to Ringer ID and choose Change.
5. Use the Down Navigation button to scroll through available ringtones.
6. Choose Select.
