Why do these pop-up windows keep showing up? What are these pop-up windows and what should I do when they appear?

It is very important that you accept the incoming SMS and HTTP messages during the installation of Instant Messenger.
Note: Select the check box for all SMS connections and then highlight the Allow this connection button and click the trackball.
NOTE: Once accepted, the pop-ups will not appear again unless you install a new operating system. When installing a new operating system, these messages will appear when the handheld boots up.

Why is my Enterprise Activation failing?

You must have the correct time zone setting in order to use Blackberry Enterprise Server. To set time zone, run the default Setup Wizard when the handheld is first activated or by pressing the Menu key and then Setup Wizard. The second step in the process turns the handheld radio on and establishes crucial network settings.

Why can’t my handheld be detected by Desktop Manager?

When installing the new Desktop Manager, you are required to uninstall the previous version of the Desktop Manager and any handheld code first. Always reboot your computer before installing the new 4.2.0.10 version of Desktop Manager and the new handheld code. If you experience any problems installing the new handheld code, search for vendor.xml on your computer and delete the file. Once deleted, install the handheld code again.

Why do myFaves pictures and previous phone numbers appear on my handheld when I swap Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards?

T-Mobile saves the pictures and contact information for your myFaves contacts. Swapping a SIM card that previously had myFaves information will restore some data on the handheld. CARE can refresh the settings and you can refresh the handheld to clear previous contact settings.

Why isn’t my Blackberry Pearl being charged when I connect it to a computer with a USB cable?

Versions of Desktop Manager older than version 4.2.1.0 are not compatible with the new USB 2.0 drivers in the handheld. You may experience a reset on the handheld when tethering or disconnecting the handheld from the USB cable. You must install BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.2.0.10. When you tether your handheld for the first time, you will be prompted to install drivers and can select them from Windows Update.

Why does my handheld freeze when replacing a myFaves contact with someone in my phone book?

myFaves does not support contact names of more than 19 characters. If you attempt to replace a myFaves contact with a new contact whose name is more than 19 characters, your handheld may freeze. To reset the handheld, take out the battery.

How do I fix the SIM card door?

The SIM card door is quite delicate. When sliding the door open, gently keep pressure on the door. Treat the door very carefully when sliding, lifting, or moving. If the door needs to be reattached, align the dimples on the SIM card track with the door indentation.

Why am I not getting good reception on my handheld?

The antenna is located at the bottom of the handheld. For optimal reception, carefully hold the handheld with your thumb and two fingers on the sides, being careful not to wrap your palm around the bottom of the handheld.

Why did my battery die and I didn’t know?

When the battery is low, you will only hear one warning prompt that it is low. Check the battery status indicator. If the indicator is red, the battery is low and needs to be recharged.

Why can’t I make or receive phone calls?

If you have your handheld set to Manual network selection, you may experience connection difficulties while traveling. To change to Automatic network selection mode, press the Menu key, select Options, select Network, select Network Selection Mode, and then select Automatic.

Why is the GPS receiver slow?

If you have purchased a Global Positioning System (GPS) puck and paired it with the BlackBerry Pearl to retrieve driving directions, the application may take a long time to refresh and become very slow. This is a known issue that Research In Motion® is working on.

Why did my handheld freeze when I sent a picture message?

If you send a file using Multimedia Message Service (MMS) that is larger than 300k, the handheld may freeze. To reset the handheld, take out the battery. Replace the battery and turn on. To prevent your handheld from freezing while sending picture messages, do not send messages larger than 300k.

Why does my handheld freeze when trying to play a Windows Media Audio file?

The BlackBerry Pearl does not support Windows Media Audio (.wma) files. If you try to play a .wma file, your handheld may freeze.

Why doesn’t my inbox on my handheld update?

Automatic reconciliation of e-mail may not happen within the 15 minute time limit. To update the inbox, open Messages, press the Menu key and choose Reconcile Now.

How do I make my e-mail update faster?

If Reconcile Now does not work, make sure you do not have Cached Exchange mode enabled on your desktop PC. Consult with your IT administrator to find out how to disable Cached Exchange mode.

Why is my battery draining faster than normal?

The applications launched using the Left or the Right convenience keys are battery draining.

How did my camera turn on without my knowing it?

The side convenience keys can be activated quite easily. You may choose to re-program the Left and the Right convenience keys. However, if you reprogram the Left or the Right convenience keys and you hold down the keys for a few seconds, it will activate the default applications. Left convenience key long press is Voice Activated Dialing. Right convenience key long press is Camera.

How do I improve the trackball sensitivity?

Change the trackball sensitivity by going to Options, then Screen/Keyboard, and then Horizontal Sensitivity, or Vertical Sensitivity.

How do I read German, Spanish, Italian, French, Hungarian, etc. on the handheld?

Multi-languages are not yet available.

Why doesn’t my phone make calls?

You cannot make calls when manually selecting a network that does not have a roaming agreement with T-Mobile. For example, you cannot make a call on the Cingular network.

Why can’t I edit last dialed numbers, missed calls, and received calls?

You cannot edit last dialed numbers, missed calls or received calls in the Call Log before saving to the Address Book. In order to edit these numbers, manually enter and save numbers and names to the Address Book.

Why can’t the preloaded birthday.mms template be sent to another T-Mobile phone?

The birthday.mms file can be sent over MMS to another T-Mobile customer’s e-mail but not to another phone. This file can also be sent to a phone number or e-mail on another wireless carrier’s network.

Why does myFaves not display the full contact name on the myFaves screen?

When you add a name with more than 15 characters, some letters or characters in the name do not show up on the screen.

Why does my handheld say that I am connected to a different network when it is not connected?

The handheld may display Network Selection Succeeded when it did not successfully connect. This may occur when trying to manually connect to another network with no roaming agreement. Keep the handheld in Automatic Selection mode. Do not use Manual Selection mode.
