What devices are affected by Daylight Saving Time (DST) changes?

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 mandates Daylight Saving Time (DST) take place on a new schedule beginning the second Sunday in March 2007 and ending the first Sunday in November. This year, the dates are March 11 and November 4. DST takes place three weeks earlier in the spring, and one week later in the fall.

Most mobile devices automatically convert the time when DST takes effect; but some, unless upgraded, could display the wrong time or improperly timestamp calendar appointments, because they are not programmed to use the new DST start and end dates. This incorrect time display could take place both in the spring “spring forward” and the autumn “fall back” timeframes.

The changes required to update the new DST vary for each device. Please see the information below to learn how to update your device.

BlackBerry® customers that are on a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server (BES) or Corporate e-mail solution will likely be upgraded by their BES Administrator. Customers should contact their BES Administrator with questions. BES Administrators can get more information on Daylight Saving Time 2007 and the impact it will have, at Daylight Saving Time 2007.

NOTE: Only devices affected by the change in Daylight Saving Time are listed. If your phone or device is not listed, it should not be affected by this change.

Affected BlackBerry® handhelds

NOTE: BlackBerry 8800™, Curve™ (8320™), and Pearl™ (8100™) Sapphire, Ruby, and Gold are not affected by the DST changes.

If you own one of the following BlackBerry® models, T-Mobile provides an updated version of the device software. The updated version will ensure your device is not affected by the DST change. Please download the software update from: BlackBerry Software Update.

NOTE: Use the Do I need this software? link on the BlackBerry Software Update page to determine if you already have the latest version of the BlackBerry® handheld software installed on your device.

If you do not have a computer, you may download a patch directly from your handheld using the following steps:

NOTE: During installation, a reset may be required and it will usually take 15 to 20 minutes.

1.	Using the BlackBerry® Browser, visit www.blackberry.com/dst2007/.

NOTE: During the installation, the handheld may display a moving hourglass.

2.	To initiate the patch, select Download.

3.	Once the patch is applied, you can view the status of the patch at Options > 2007 DST Patch.

To check the handheld model and software version of a BlackBerry®, perform the following steps:

1.	At main menu, select Options.

2.	Select About.

NOTE: If you have changed your theme, you may need to select Settings, select Options, and then select About.

The first line provides the handheld model. The third line provides the current software version.

If you have a Blackberry device without a Blackberry plan (and you are unable to utilize the browser), you can manually change the time on your device or apply the patch to your device using a computer as directed in the table below. To change the time on your device, go to Options > Date/Time.

Pocket PC Phone Edition	Microsoft Pocket PC 2002	Your device is not able to download the DST2007 patch; two options are available: Access My T-Mobile and upgrade to a new device. Once you are logged in, click Phone & Accessories, and then click Upgrade your phone online. Manually update the time on your device. Select Options, and then select Date/Time. If you have changed the theme on your device, you may need to select Settings, select Options, and then select Date/Time. If you manually update your device, you will need to update it four times a year. Move the time forward one hour on March 11, 2007 and then back one hour on April 1, 2007. Move the time forward one hour on October 28, 2007, and then back one hour on November 4, 2007.
