Synchronizing Personal Information Management (PIM) Data
You can synchronize PIM data with your BlackBerry®. PIM data includes calendar, address book, contacts, tasks, and memos.
You can synchronize PIM data via two methods:
- Synchronize wirelessly with your BlackBerry® Enterprise Server. Any changes you make to your PIM data on your computer are synchronized with your BlackBerry® wirelessly, and vice-versa. There is no need for you to connect your BlackBerry® to your computer to synchronize.
NOTE: Wireless synchronization is supported on BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.0 and higher. Check with your IT department to determine if your BlackBerry Enterprise Server supports wireless synchronization. - Synchronize with your computer using the BlackBerry® Desktop Software and by connecting the BlackBerry® to your computer using the USB cable.

BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.0 or higher | Wireless synchronization of calendar entries, tasks, memos, and contacts is supported. BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 2.1 or higher | Wireless synchronization of calendar entries is supported. You can enable wireless synchronization of calendar entries using the Intellisync program in the BlackBerry Desktop Software. | You need to connect your device to your computer once to enable wireless calendar synchronization and every time that you want to synchronize contacts, tasks, and memos. |
BlackBerry Internet E-mail or BlackBerry® Desktop Redirector | Wireless synchronization of PIM data is not supported. | You need to connect your device to your computer every time that you want to synchronize calendar entries, contacts, tasks, and memos. |
How do I synchronize via the desktop?
To synchronize via the desktop, perform the following steps:
| 1. | After you have installed the BlackBerry Desktop Software on your computer, connect the BlackBerry® to your computer using the supplied cable. |
| 2. | To open the BlackBerry Desktop Software, double-click the shortcut icon on your computer desktop or, from the Start menu, select Programs, select BlackBerry, and then click Desktop Manager. |
| 3. | Double-click the Intellisync icon. |
| 4. | Select Synchronize PIM. |
| 5. | Click Synchronize Now. |
NOTE: During synchronization, you might be prompted to accept or reject changes if conflicts occur between the data on your BlackBerry® and the data on your computer.
