Why Am I Unable to Open E-mail Attachments on My BlackBerry®?

How do I open an attachment?

NOTE: When an e-mail arrives with an attachment, you will see within the e-mail message the name of the attachment, the size of the attachment, and the type of attachment.
To open the attachment, perform the following steps:
1. From within the e-mail message, click the trackwheel, and then select Open Attachment.
2. Click the trackwheel to select either Full content or Table of Contents.

NOTE: The Full content view opens the attached file. The Table of Contents view shows an outline of the contents of the attached file.

Why am I unable to open attachments?

If you are unable to open an attachment with your BlackBerry, refer to the following information:

Steps to Resolve
You are not using a BlackBerry Enterprise Server or BlackBerry Internet E-mail
You must utilize a BlackBerry Enterprise Server or the BlackBerry Internet E-mail solution to be able to open attachments.
BlackBerry Attachment service is not running on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server
Contact the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Administrator.
BlackBerry Attachment application is not installed
  • Verify that the attachment module is installed:

    1. From the home screen, open Options.
    2. Select Applications.

    NOTE: BlackBerry 7100t and BlackBerry 7105t users select Tools > Settings > Applications.

  • Install the BlackBerry Attachment Service using the Application Loader in the BlackBerry® Desktop Manager.
